Saturday Smorgasbord

* Michael. Phelps. WOW

* Kevin Grady has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge this week. Pretty hard not to after you've blown a 0.281 on the drunk-o-meter. Grady must either spend three days in jail or perform 24 hours of community service. He also must serve 12 months of probation and pay $3,290 in fines and fees. But, it hasn't kept him from practicing with the team.......Which I think is crap.

* Zack Putnam, RHP, will skip his senior season with the Wolverines to sign with the Cleveland Indians for $650,000.

* Jim Carty likes it! He really likes it! The Stadium, that is.....

* Janos Baranyai, an Olympic weightlifter from Hungary inverted his right elbow (DON'T look if you get grossed out easily. I'm serious) while trying to snatch 148 kg during competition this week. The good news is that he didn't break anything and may be able to return to his sport....yiiccch

* Apparently the USC football team has been plagued by tinea cruris during this month's camp. USC = University of Scratchy Crotch????? ha ha

I disagree about Grady. He owned up and pled out. He could have lawyered up and pled down. Could have also gotten PTI, and had no probation. He chose the hard way for some reason. Maybe a deal with RR? Lets remember that he's a kid. Lets not let him ruin his life without some intervention.

I don't see how you can plead out of a .281. I had a .103 when Ohio's limit was .100 and I had a hard time as it was pleading out of that. .281 is seriously almost catatonic. I don't know how he was able to see let alone tell his feet to press the pedals.

I should have said pled down. Here in SC things sometimes get lost or downplayed. Also lets not forget PTI

Ham, at .103 were you drunk?

I didn't feel a thing and the nature of which I was pulled over was bullshit to begin with. It was the night before we moved into our apartment and we (me and my roommate) had taken our buddy out to get him drunk for his birthday. I had had two of the larger draft beers at the bar while they proceeded to get drunk. I was in my brother in laws f150 which I wasn't used to driving to begin with because I owned a little sports car at the time. The cop said I went left of center and was speeding. The speeding part was out of his jurisdiction and the left of center was questionable at best. Then I did all his field sobriety tests and neer faltered but then he said "in my estimation you are driving under the influence and thus I'm placing you under arrest." I was like wtf I passed all your tests and the only reason he was doing it was because I got shitty with him over the speeding and left of center because he had no proof. I then blew a .103 which is 3 thousandths over the limit and screamed bullshit in my mind so i got it knocked down to a wreckless op with only a fine and some points on my license. Either way it was a bullshit move on the pig's part. Apologies to all pigs who may enjoy this site.

Yeah, he was drunk. He forgot the the only words you say to a cop:
"Yes, sir." "No, sir." "Thank you, sir."

fraid Jon might have a point. I do wonder how they come up with a determination about the level that I or anyone else can function.

Having worked as an ER nurse for many years, I have seen what drinking and driving can do. You drink, you don't drive. Period. Grady is VERY lucky that he didn't hurt someone (or himself). Zero tolerance.

It was today, not yesterday (I think) and T9 did mention it here. I didn't make it, "the boy" had to work and I just didn't feel like going alone. Now of course I wish I would have planned better, I probably could have gotten my brother to make the trip if I had called him soon enough. :o(

Damn I must have missed it then. Probably wouldn't have been able to attend but wanted to try this year. Utah tickets are tempting. I just bought 4 tickets to the Miami OH game off a friend of Barry (wamuguy) so I don't know if the wife will allow me to attend two weeks in a row. Ticket price parking gas for 6 hour round trip drive all factor in. I will ask her though. @ tickets? Can email me or answer here no biggie. My email is my name at neo.rr.com or it's on the Yahoo group.

from what i heard, it was a very successful fan day yesterday - 3 of the 4 fans showed up - 2 of them actually hurt themselves waiving their keys.

you guys should be proud (all 4 of you - even the one that didn't show)
