Ok all you Chicken Littles out there. The sky is NOT falling---even if RR says "Michigan Football will be back". Like we've gone anywhere!!???I THINK NOT!!!
This article in USA TODAY, pointing out that 68 teams are needed to fill 34 bowl game slots got me to thinking. The BCS games: Rose, Orange, Sugar,
Fiesta, and the title game in Miami may pull one or two Big Ten teams.
Fiesta, and the title game in Miami may pull one or two Big Ten teams.BUT the Big Ten has contracts with 6 bowls:
1) The Motor City Bowl vs. the MAC 2) The Champs Sports Bowl vs. the ACC 3) The Alamo Bowl vs. the Big 12 4) The Insight Bowl vs. the Big 12 5) The Outback Bowl vs. the SEC 6) The Capital One Bowl vs. the SEC
Given all the slots needing to be filled, a 6-6 team is bound to make it. OR to put it another way we just need 5 more wins to keep Michigan's bowling streak alive.
Don't give up, sports fans!! It's easy math!!!

One week at a time.
But this season really comes down to can we beat Sparty ? Win that game and I can see 6 wins and a Motor City bowl bid. Lose that game and we are sitting home and wondering when hockey season starts.
andy,
i think we need to be a little more patient. few teams lose 6 turnovers and win. the offense played its best game of the season and McGuffie had some big stats.
my point is that they are improving, and that a lot of teams on our schedule ain't so great.
Toledo, Minn, NU, & Purdue are all games we can win (if we don't commit 6 turnovers). Wisconsin, Illinois, and MooSU all look very vulnerable. and by season's end? PSU looks great. tosu? not so much.
a lot of schedule left and we haven't played our best football yet.
If they continue to improve at the rate they have been over the first 3 games I can see them pulling out a win in Cbus. We all know Sweater can't stop the spread so we will see. It's definitely going to be a week to week battle this year.
My math brought up wins over Toledo, NW, and MN, the rest are winnable IF we continue to improve at the rate we have (and don't turn the ball over 6 times). Our defense needs to show up EVERY game, for the entire game. We don't (at this point) have a strong enough offense to keep pace with teams that we are letting score big on us. Just my 2 cents worth.
I have said from the beginning of the RR era, All I want out of this season is to keep our bowl streak alive. There is a chance that we don't do that this year, but as you all have said, our offense has improved each and every game so far and with a bye this week, maybe, just maybe.........
