Apparently someone else watched Inside MI football. Anyway it's 5:10am. Packing the family into the car and heading out. Having a picnic style tailgate then game. We're in section 6 which hopefully isn't the snore snore bore snore section as my wife calls it but I'm afraid it is. See everyone there! (Although I won't know who anyone is)
So, exactly what I expected today, really. First few series looked great and I was really fired up. But then I think Miami settled in a bit and then entropy set in on our side. Their first QB threw the ball well, but his receivers couldn't catch a thing! Our QBs are a big problem. They missed/overthrew/underthrew open guys alllll day. Much better run game.
So, overall, I saw improvement and I like the play calling. It's about execution (and the lack thereof). Growing pains for sure.
Did we complete even one pass down the field? If we continue to struggle with the vertical passing game, all our screeny, dump-off junk won't mean a thing. Nice to see some semblance of a running game today. I think it was a mistake to platoon Threet and Sheridan. Threet seems to be the guy, but he needs all the practice he can get.
third down conversions were miserable. we could get away with misdirection runs, short screens and short outs and just dink and dunk down the field. at least until the other team stacks the box.... but even then, you'd have quick up/out. if you can get the QBs to improve their mechanics.
ND is still looking pretty shabby against the Chuck Long-led SDSU squad.
Run game was definitely greatly improved and I think overall the line was greatly improved. But as been mentioned if you can't throw the ball more than 5 yards there will be headaches. Those boys need to throw passes into buckets all week long 20 yards or more. and not allowed to rest until they hit 10 in a row. Mcguffie looked great when they finally got him the ball and he was able to get up to speed before contact. The defense was once again horrible against the pass and needs a huge amount of improvement. Maybe they think the secondary is playing good in practice because they're shutting down the offense who can't pass a ball anyway. Idk but it needs work or they will be shredded by good teams. Was a great time at the game and a perfect day weather wise. Bring on the aloe.
I am not pleased with switching up the QB every other drive. Threet appears to me as the stronger QB, ALLOW HIM TO GET COMFORTABLE IN THAT POSITION! If you are always under the gun, needing to "prove" yourself, not knowing WHEN you might be replaced has to put pressure on their game. The run game was better this week, however there were at least 3 passes that would have been touchdowns if the QB had thrown them properly. McGuffie is FAST!!!!!! I can't wait to watch him once he actually has a offensive line that will block for him! Defense was fairly good, they stopped MANY 3rd and 1 plays. They also look FAST! I am dreading the ND game, particularly after what fat boy said about us in the Spring, I would like nothing better than our team to go there and stuff it down their throat, not so sure that will happen after watching the last 2 weeks!

1st drive = TD
I guess that Pat White is dressed as Threet today.
Lopata is a gangster kicker
10-0 Wolves
Tough day for the B10 against the MAC.
Michigan only leads Miami by 7 at half.
Wisconsin losing to Marshall.
Bucks losing at half to OhioU.
Yikes
Tressel is playing the ultimate head-game with Carrol and the boys.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
wv = gufiber
Pardon me, while I invent a new adhesive for sports equipment.
10-6 into the 4th quarter. This is like watching a high school jv football game.
I am offended by our offensive offense.

Scouting the Emu led Irish now.....

The ND game is going to be very uncomfortable.

At this point...a win is a win is a win.
We are not very good and victories may not come very often this year. I am going to enjoy it.
looked a lot better than last week. offense/running game greatly improved.
passing looked pretty ragged. apparently Threet is passing a lot to Tacopants.
let's hope they continue to improve.
one bit of really good news? ND looks really bad against a very lackluster SDSU team.
ND is lookin' baaaaad
even the NBC announcers are dissing them
BTW- sorta waiting for the Neers fans to come up w/ a reason/excuse how today's drubbing by ECU was still R2's fault.
It looked like it was going to go well and then....
Blah. At least they won.

A friendly warning.
