The Michigan blog-o-sphere filled up yesterday with the hot rumor that Sam McGuffie is leaving Ann Arbor. At first I thought this was just a new nasty rumor designed to deliver yet another swift kick to my gut while I am lying on the ground in pain.My response: WHAT ? Why do we ever recruit kids from the south ? How could this happen ? When will this nightmare stop ? Why do the college football gods hate me sooooo much ? At what time in the future does Jim Tressel's deal with devil expire ?
But once again there is more to the story: Apparently, on his way home for a family funeral Sam McGuffie's plane to Houston had a stop in Ohio and Justin Boren ate him.
Seriously, Sam McGuffie is an 18 year old kid. He is likely very homesick and the weather in Ann Arbor in November sucks. I hope he chooses to stay at Michigan. If not, I wish him the best of luck. I know that both Baylor and Texas A&M would love to have him.

Now here's a guy who hasn't seen his feet or his johnson for some time.
For the other Austin Powers fans-
Fat Boren: "what's with your wee running back? I've had bigger chunks o corn in me crap!"
Heck, I thought that he had consumed catie---given how she had disappeared on us for so long!!! ;-)
MISSED YA GIRL!
sorry that you felt as if we have given you the cold shoulder.
threadjack:
anyone else watching Ball State v. Central??
I am.
Ray Bentley is a dumber version of Chris Speilman.
I do like the Chips gold jerseys. Gangster.
AGREE about Ray Bentley and Spielman.
Oye! that just looks painful (I think that I am having flashbacks to childbirth days!)
I agree, particularly after reading the article in the Daily on McGuffie, he has to do what is best for him.
T9, I just figured I was not contributing anything worthy, which wouldn't be a huge surprise, the time I have for football is significantly decreased due to writing a book that I am not getting paid for (= dissertation) I love having you both share your time and superb writing skills (and photo shop skills!) and allowing me a place to share my thoughts.....thanks so much!
Catie-
No one else let's the lack of any worthy to contribute stop them from commenting on the internet. For heavens sake don't let it stop you!
T9/Andy- watching the game- did you notice the Chippies shaking their key chains on BSU's 3rd & long? Maybe its a cold weather issue?
#17 from CMU should be credited with an assist on that BSU TD
instead of tacking the guy, he spun him around and let go of him, sending him going faster than before toward the endzone
We would have won another 3 or 4 games this year if we had the CMU QB.
BTW, someone close to me shared a little info with me. He works at an upscale place here in A2 and said that last Saturday a gentleman came in dressed head to toe in Michigan gear (not from walmart!) Come to find out, this gentleman was here for the game, driving from WV. He previously was the equipment truck driver for the WV football team. He was fired after RR left, as was anyone and everyone that had any ties to RR. (as reported by him) He said, we should not worry about this season, RR will get it done for us, guaranteed.
I found it interesting to hear that even an equipment truck driver would get the ax, simply because he was part of the RR regime. His loyalty was very evident, which also gave me a warm fuzzy about RR, at a time that it might be easy to think the worst about him.
it's the boy catie not the dissertation! Your perspectives are always welcome.
To think, we all poo-poo'd Brady Hoke!
Andy, T9, K/Catie, et. al,
yes I was watching the CMU-Ball U game on ESPN2 tonight...was texting many Chip grads during the game (see how Andy did the same during the Minnesota open thread, which is "how I roll" from section 16 in The Big (quiet) House--yes I did stay till the end of the game vs NW--waiting on the badge from Brian at Mgoblog, but I digress)
good to see how a spread offense gets it done...had to remind (multiple times) the CMU fans that Butch Jones learned under R2 and BJ was hired at CMU after Brian Kelly (next coach at Tennessee or ND--IMO) ran the same thing....of course said CMU/little brother fan texted back something about 10 yrs of pain...yet 1 season out of 129 will NOT make me refuse to renew my season tix...
walmart wolverine all you want...I am a season ticket holder since 1995 and a proud Victors Club member!
will be watching on Saturday for the game vs tUoO$U...
Andy-
Completely agree about your LeFevour Argument. As bad as all our units played this year with their poor development (remember Carr is the predecessing villain there) you put in a QB like LeFevour and all the sudden Utah (2 points), Toledo (3 points), Purdue (2 points) , Northwestern (1 TD) and maybe the ND (they are still incompetent) game as well are all of the sudden wins. That would have us at 7 or 8 wins. Develop all our units and players and all of the sudden we are contenders in every game like we can, should, and will be.
When you look at the games, the outlook of the Penn State game and the Sparty game looks very different with a competent QB. With leads or a tie in both games and a competent QB on our side they are not able to shut us down so easily and take over like they did at various positions in the 2nd half. Just a good QB is all we need for at least 7 wins next year.
I beg the mindless to calm their disruptive white noise for just a season more to allow R2 the time and energy to devote to this team. We will have the results we expect at a minimum and maybe even better than expected next year. And I cannot wait to see the show we will put on in 2010 with our great new stadium as well.
We will rise to prominence once more, we just need the leaders to lead us there and each of us to use our better judgment and quell those disruptive tongue lashes that would tear this endeavor apart.
All your quarterbacks are belong to us.
LOL schwetty :-)
I finally realized what this picture really is after reading about that woman who became a man and got pregnant now for a second time. This is one of the tosu cheerleaders who had a similar operation and is now giving birth to the 2026 tosu offensive line.
Ha that's funny. Disturbing at the same time.
Bob,
It's called "Mainstream Recruiting." Just another Div. I research innovation brought to you by your friends at tOSU.
