Check out this douchebaggery.......Buck Burnette, a sophmore center from Wimberley, Texas has been dismissed from the Texas Longhorn Football team for levels of "f*#k-lion" beyond all rational thought and racist stupidity.....Shortly after Barak Obabma was elected president Tuesday night the 4th of November, Burnette wrote on his Facebook status: “All the hunters gather up, we have a (racial epithet) in the White House.”
Screen captures showed this apology from Burnette before his Facebook page was taken down: “Clearly, I have made a mistake and apologized for it and will pay for it. I received it as a text message from an acquaintance and immaturely put it up on facebook (sic) in the light of the election. Im (sic) not racist and apologize for offending you. I grew up on a ranch in a small town where that was a real thing and I need to grow up. I sincerely am sorry for being ignorant in thinking that it would be ok (sic) to write that publicly and apologize to you in particular… . I have to be more mature than to put the reputation of my team at stake and to spread that kind of hate which I dont (sic) even believe in. Once again, I sincerely apologize.”
It would be very interesting to hear the response of his (teammates)...........Or the SECRET SERVICE for that matter -- given that he implied physical violence directed at the President-elect. WTF. REALLY????? And I thought Lindsay Lohan's comment was bad. Amazingly, the folks over at aol fanhouse are split on whether or not his dismissal from the team was warranted. SERIOUSLY??????????????????
As Rachel Maddow says: I need someone to talk me down about this RIGHT NOW

How dare you insult Grand Marquis.
This has been headline news in Austin for a couple of days now. I have basically ignored it because it is sooooo stupid.
I would be happy to bet $10 bucks to anyone that if he was a starter, Mack Brown would not have kicked him off the team -- he would have "handled the matter internally"
Following up on this:
In 2007 Texas backup linebacker Sergio Kindle was arrested for driving while intoxicated and got a three game suspension from Coach Mack Brown.
Texas backup defensive end Henry Melton was arrested for driving while intoxicated and got a three game suspension from Coach Mack Brown..
In September Texas starting defensive tackle Lamarr Houston was arrested for driving while intoxicated and got a one game suspension from Coach Mack Brown.
Finally last week, Texas backup center Buck Burnette posted a text message he received from a friend that contained a racial slur directed at Barack Obama on his Facebook page and was dismissed from the team from Coach Mack Brown.
Stupid ? yes.
Sad ? yes.
Consistent ? No.
The most disturbing thing about this post is the quoting of Rachel Maddow. *Shudder*
how is inebriation in a college-aged athlete equivalent and/or comparable to blatant back-woods racism AND the implication of physical violence against a President-Elect????
However, I do appreciate the new and improved visuals! :-)
and, whetstone--hate to break it to you but you too in Ohio have gone true blue! (tee hee)
did you know that Rachel Maddow has a PhD in Political Science AND that she was a Fulbright Scholar??
dayum.
So?
I know a lot of intelligent people who are socially dangerous and lacking wisdom.
PolySci - Ahahahahahahahaha...
Ohio going blue. Hmmmm. More bread, more circus, long live Rome.
I think this stems to a new movement in the country where everyone will be overly afraid of being labeled a "racist." Now that Obama is president we will probably see actions like this more and more. There was a story going around my work the other day where this woman who I believed worked for the government in some aspect in Cleveland sent and email about blacks and Burger King or something. basically the gist of it sounded racist but the explanation she gave made it sound ok. Unfortunately her supervisor was colored and saw the email and terminated her employment immediately.
This country's a long way from race being a non-factor in things and abolishing racism altogether.

The point is not to compare the dangerous act of DUIs and the incredibly stupid (while still harmless) racist posting on facebook -- but rather to illustrate the point that Mack Brown decides how to punish people based on the value they provide to his football team.
If Buck were a starter, he would still be on the team. No question.
I guess Don Rickles said something about Obama playing basketball and now he's in a firestorm. Does this mean that Saturday Night Live and the rest of them will have to shutter their doors because they will have to walk on eggshells when making jokes about a President?
It will be an interesting couple of months while comedians figure out what is OK and not OK to say.
