The last time Michigan and Ohio State played a football game and one of the teams did not go to a bowl game following the clash was 1999.
Ohio State finished that seasson 6-6 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten, which was tied for 8th in the conference. The Buckeyes were knocked out of bowl contention when they lost in Ann Arbor 24-17 on a cold November saturday. I was in Michigan Stadium on that day sitting behind the Ohio State Band and a large number of red-clad Buckeye fans. After '95, '96 and '97 they had the same bewildered look that Michigan fans have today. How could this happen and when will this nightmare end ?
Three seasons later (in 2002) Ohio State went undefeated and won the National Championship. Michigan has gone 2-6 against the Bucks since.
