GLI Champs

The Michigan hockey team ended years of Sparty induced holiday depression last night at Joe Louis Arena. They won their second Great Lakes Invitational in a row, but more importantly they beat Michigan State to do it. Those pesky hockey Spartans had beaten us for the MacInnes Cup the last five times we played in the GLI final (97, '98, '99, 04 and 06). Michigan has now won the GLI 13 times, most of any school in the event history.

Sophomore (and future Ottawa Senator) Louie Caporusso was chosen the Tournament MVP highlighted by the natural hat trick he scored in the first period of a 5-0 semifinal victory over Michigan Tech on Saturday. Michigan defensemen Chad Langlais and Chris Summers and goaltender Bryan Hogan were also named to the All-Tourney team.
And oh yeah - Mark Dantonio: This only counts as one.
