RichRod accepted Scott Shafer's resignation today as both agreed that the program needed to go "in a different direction".
Honestly, I feel badly for Mrs. Shafer. This guy's been dragging her all over the damned country most recently moving from California to ..... Michigan.
Let the prognostication begin!!! WHO'S OUR NEW DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR ??????

I saw this on MGoBlue this afternoon and was going to send you and Andy an email about it. It did not take you very long to get this posted. I know Andy will be very happy about this.
I'm glad he's gone. Never happy with him there, before and now.
I'm not sure what to think really. It seems duplicitous to me for us to say "give Rich a chance, it's just his first year" yet then he turns around and gives Shafer the boot...

They needed someone to fall on his sword. The Defensive coordinator is as good as anyone.
one thing to keep in mind- these two guys didn't know each other before this season. R2 hired Shafer based on watching game film/reputation.
it's very possible that it wasn't too good of a relationship regardless of the "on the field" performance- very often talented people don't work well together.
