Rock Bottom

“Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the thousand small uncaring ways”
~ Stephen Vincent Benet
It is finally over.

My personal nightmare called the 2008 football season is over. Michigan delivers 3 wins. The Detroit Lions end the season winless. I need some serious healing, so I am turning to the future Mrs. Tom Brady to start the process.

Warning: you all better be nice to me going forward, or I will start cheering for YOUR favorite football team next season.

Poor Jim Brandstetter. Usually he get's relief from bad football on Saturdays. He was pretty ornery as I was listening to the game on the way home today.

And if they don't?

"And if they don't?"

Oh but they will.

Hamster,

That's why they play the game on the field.

I don't think Texas will roll Ohio State.

I expect Ohio State to win.

And Sru: we don't mention high school football players here. Until they sign a letter of intent and play a down of college football, I don't care who they are.

once again you have to root for another team to do what yours failed to do

Andy I'd love to see you break down how you think O$UI could possibly win that game. I don't see how they will keep it within 20.

Also fear not Lions fans, Phil Savage and Romeo Crennel just became available.

Hammerstein,

They beat Texas last time they played them.

Their secondary is equal to Texas' pass offense.

Texas doesn't have much of a running game.

If McCoy doesn't bring his "A" game it could be close. Maybe Pryor will do a "Troy Smith" on the Longhorns.

Here's to hope!

Then again, tOSU may not be the same caliber as Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State this year.

O$U beat Texas what 2 years ago Texas lost like 4 games that year and definitely is not the caliber team they are now. Colt McCoy was a freshman and inexperienced. Plus I would say the Buckeye team from two years ago was arguably better than this year's. Texas this year has been rolling teams and if not for a close loss to an instate inflated rivalry game they would be playing for and probably winning the NC. I got Texas by 18.

Whets,

now who's dipping into the kool aid? to quote you:

"Which is it, raspberry or grape?"

SiC,

You honor me. I didn't think you read that post. Obviously, my aim was spot on.

Dudes, I hedged all my bets. I agree with Hammie. The quality of play this year in the Pig 12 looks much tougher than the Big 10.

As stated, I'm obviously going on hope. Heck, a little "hope and change" in tOSU's bowl production would be a dream come true. I'm dreaming of a victory--not predicting or betting on one. I can do that without the sugary libation.

Warning: I think I have already proven why you don't want me rooting for your football team.

Here is why I think Ohio State will beat Texas.

1) Both teams have an embarrassing amount of talent.
2) Ohio State’s loss to USC means nothing. It is my opinion that USC would beat Texas, OU, and Florida in consecutive weeks if given the chance.
3) Ohio State has more to play for to erase the pain of the last two NC games. Texas is still pissed they did not get a chance to play in the NC game. It will show up.
4) Buckeye defense is going to be the difference maker. Colt does not like to get hit (see 2006 and 2007 Texas A&M games).
5) Beanie Wells and the offensive line will pound the ball. Pryor will make plays.
6) Texas will turn the ball over.

Ohio State: 34
Texas: 21

Hmmm. Oregon 42, OSU 31.

Maybe the Pig 12 south isn't as good as we thought. Maybe they're all just mediocre, but look great when playing each other.

maybe, Whets, maybe.

then again, the big ten is already 0-2. is it possible that we're worse than everyone thought???

Probably.

You uttered the unutterable thought.
