Vada Murray

You remember Vada, right??? He recently served as an honorary captain on Senior Day because he was an amazing free safety back in the day (1986-1990). He played in the 1988 and 1989 Rose Bowls. Our founding father, Yost, included this amazing historical perspective of Bo's final game in Michigan Stadium.
One of my good friends had a number of classes with Vada, whom she described as 'the nicest guy ever'. After college, Vada became one of Ann Arbor's finest--serving as a police officer since. Now 41 years old, he has 3 kids aged 10, 6, and 3. And, he has advanced stage lung cancer. Even though he's a non-smoker with no family history.
This story appeared in today's Ann Arbor News, and I had to try not to cry.

I remember Vada well. He was one hell of a football player. God Bless him and his family.

I worked with Vada in the summers, back in the college days with the Athletic Dept. Not only was he one hell of a football player but was a great guy all around. He and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
