Wolverine Pro Bowlers

Congratulations to Minnesota Vikings offensive guard Steve Hutchinson and Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson. These former Michigan Wolverines were voted by the fans as starters for the 2009 NFL Pro Bowl, hosted in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday February 8th. I've never actually watched the Pro Bowl, and doubt I will this year. But it is nice to see our guys get recognized.

Hutchinson started his NFL career in Seattle now anchors what is considered by many as the NFLs best offensive line. He helped pave the way for RB Adrian Peterson to set the new Vikings single-season rushing record and set a new team record for 100-yard games in a season. He has blocked for a 1,000-yard rusher in each of his eight NFL seasons.

Woodson started his NFL career in Oakland joined the Packers as a free agent in 2006 and has posted half of his career interceptions (17 of 34) in his 44 games with the Packers. This season he overcame an early season broken toe to make the Pro Bowl. He has five interceptions this year (tied for second in the NFL). He has established a new career-high with three sacks (topping his 2 1/2 in 2004), is on pace for a new career-high in tackles with 72 and two games remaining (79 in 2000), and leads the team in passes defensed with 17.
This is the sixth Pro Bowl for Hutchinson (three with the Seahawks and three for the Vikings) and the fifth for Woodson (four with the Raiders and now one with the Packers).

I have attended two Pro Bowls ('02 and '04) which was a GREAT time!

The stadium is packed, parking is a beeotch (I recommend staying at a hotel with shuttle service) and the tailgating there is OVER THE TOP! Even with the packed stadium, nobody really pays attention to the game, it's like being at a party with 50,000 people.

Going to Hawaii in Feb doesn't suck either...

In my opinion LaMaar Woodley is the biggest snub along with Philip Rivers. Maybe they'll still get in. It'd also be nice to see Jon Runyan get in again, Lord knows he deserves it.

Pro Bowlers? Was bowling a required course for the football players? It's nice to see that they have a hobby in their later years.
