All you can eat Wednesday

In a desperate attempt to push T9's "tranny" post as far down the page as possible, I thought today would be a good day to take a spin around the buffet table...

• The Michigan Men's basketball team plays tonight at Indiana. Game is on the Big Ten Network in stunning HD.

• The Michigan Women's basketball team plays at Crisler tomorrow against Illinois. That game is also on the Big Ten Network.

• The hockey team will host #8 Miami this weekend at Yost. This is a HUGE set of games because we were swept in Oxford in November.

• The Spring Football game looks like it is going to return to Michigan Stadium on April 11th. I have never found the time to attend, but I just may find a reason to come to Ann Arbor that weekend. A quick look at the baseball and softball schedule tells me that both teams will also be in Ann Arbor that weekend. Sounds like a great time, if it doesn't rain. Time for T9 to stock the fridge and clean out the guest room, I'm coming for visit.

• It looks like we have seven football recruits that are enrolled early, including a highly rated QB. Again, I am refusing to mention any potential incoming recruit names until I see them wearing winged helmets.

• No defensive coordinator yet. Our former DC just took the same job at Syracuse.

• One of our soccer players is turning pro early ? I don't follow soccer at all, but I don't think this happens very often with NCAA soccer players.

• As expected, Sam McGuffie will be a Rice Owl. Scot Loeffler was hired by Florida as the quarterbacks coach. I hope that Morgan Trent realizes that playing in the East West Shrine Game does not mean he gets to cover crippled kids.

Matt Stafford #1 pick of the Lions ??? No announcement yet on Beanie Wells. Go Beanie Go.

• It looks like Boston College is going to fire their coach because he interviewed with the NY Jets about their NFL Head Coach vacancy. The line for the lawyers is forming now.

• The Utah Attorney General thinks the Utes have been treated unfairly by the BCS.

• The MAC finished their perfect 0-4 bowl season last night with the Ball State loss to Shavodrick Beaver's new team. Thank buddha for Iowa, I would hate to be compared to that loser conference.

The future - year 2014:
After five years in various US court systems, the Supreme Court has announced that the Utah Utes are the 2009 National Champions of college football. Although the Utes didn't play for the championship, the court has decided they would have won if they did play. The 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 National Champion lawsuits are still working their way through the court system. In related news, Hulk Hogan had his 1987 WWF title stripped by the High Court and they have awarded the title to Stacy Keibler.

I remember when only 1 MAC team would go to a bowl game. Is this a symptom of the number of bowls we have now?

As for the BCS, what has improved with it? Granted, we have a matchup of the Number 1 and 2 teams, so we avoid the Michigan-Nebraska mess from the 1997 season. But have we really fixed that problem? This year we have USC with a bitch, Texas with a bitch (they have a double bitch because they were jobbed from the Big 12 Championship) and undefeated Utah with a bitch. You could throw Texas Tech into the mix but they lost their bowl. Last year we had the same mess. A couple years ago we had a case where we had the BCS Champion and the AP Champion.

I'm not really a proponent of a playoff because I'm of the opinion that a playoff would basically end up being between the teams from the Six Annointed Conferences. I like the existing bowl structure. it would be nice to crown a Champion that wasn't decided by the East German judge, but there is just too much disparity to do that.

Andy,

as a proud MAC graduate, I readily admit that the MAC is unashamed to call itself the "little brothers" for the Big 10/11.

I'm just saying...

I think a playoff system could work similar to the BCS bowl games now. You have 8 spots open and automatic spots go to the winners of each major conference. Then you get 2 pots to be filled by non BCS schools based on ranking. Or better yet you have a 10 team playoff with the top 2 ranked teams having a 'bye" for the first round of the playoffs. Then you have the 4 remaining conference champs the two at large non BCS schools then can throw in 2 more BCS conference schools ranked high but not conference champs. This gets a lot of schools involved and really doesn't seem too hard to pull off.

Hopefully weather is good April 11th. Maybe I can talk the wife into having a little weekend getaway and bring the fam. Baby's first M game!
