The DETERMINER

Greetings, my name is Rasputin. I am the DETERMINER. Please... Please... do not be afraid as I mean you no harm. I am only here to help you along your journey. Won't you please just sit down and relax while I educate you with my vastly superior level of knowledge on all things.

I am not sure how to say this gently, but I determine what is the perfect Michigan fan. It is my sacred responsibility to police all opinions within the vast MGoUniverse. That is why they call me the DETERMINER. I decide what is RIGHT and what is WRONG. I spend my days watching the Wolverine interworld for idiotic opinions that stray from my own perfect level of fandom. When I happen to find one, I gather my army and we strike. Don't waste your time to respond. Defense is fruitless. Do not attempt to stand by your opinion, as it will only extend the pain and suffering you will feel. Fortunately for us, my opinion is the only one that matters. I am right. You are wrong. No matter what you may believe... remember this: I am right and you are wrong.

I have no equal. My army is unmatched. I am everywhere. I will taunt you. You are a choad. I will crush your feeble uneducated soul. I know everything there is to know about you. Do not attempt the foolish waste of time to disagree with me. I am not interested in your opinion. Your arguments are flawed. You blog is a skidmark on the underpants of the interwebs. I am right. You are not. I am the DETERMINER.

No mercy, no surrender.

What cracks me up is that so many people out there think the WLA is one unified body that never disagrees. Part of the reason that not every person that comments/posts at the WLA wasn't here is that they may have disagreed with us. You don't see that though. You see life in black and white. Right and wrong. What Trent did to you was flat out wrong. To me, life is shades of gray and I'm not going to get my panties in a wad over some kid putting stickers on his helmet. Nor will I call his character into question over the whole situation because life is shades of gray. That's how I live, you obviously don't. That's fine but don't get sour because someone doesn't agree with you. The reason some people get so mad about the WLA and how they "tell people what to think" is that the majority of people agree with the WLA and those who don't feel obsolete because their opinions are not backed by others so they result to insults rather than proving a point. Hence why in the last thread you never addressed peoples opinions, rather you counted how many WLA members rallied to your post (I'm looking at you Andy). But that's fine. I won't let helmet stickers keep me up to late. Dex, Chitown, Shock, Ninja, Maize, Gsims, BGH and the rest of the crew are going on a whistle stop tour to preach what's appropriate.

You're letting this keep you up late though... guess you get your panties in a wad when people call you and your friends out for your personal attacks and slanderous remarks/conclusions... "that's why you couldn't destroy me then, that's why you won't bring me to your Emperor now." You need to just let it go and leave dude. Nobody likes an uninvited guest... it's awkward.

P.S. Don't pretend to fucking know any of us after reading five comments about a simple topic. As mentioned before we disagree plenty and keep it clean and fun here and have a good time. It's your intrusive, rude, and unwanted conclusions that are not welcome.

Take care.

Once again can we not turn this blog into the disaster that Mgoblog has become. Mgoblog and the WLA are basically the same entity. They call themselves blogs on this here "free internet" but then they solely "reserve the right" to not publish your post or to censor out what they deem irrelevant. It's bullshit and a huge waste of everyone's time. Mgoblog is great as an informative blog but the comments and diaries section is a joke. The WLA is exactly what it preaches to be, a communist regime that tells you what to think or feel and that's that. This is our little corner of the universe and it's a nice one. Let's keep it that way.

Andy,

Nice WLA-type rant.

Done some researching this morning and have not been able to find a single thing on a previous MI player adorning his helmet with stickers. I side with Andy on that it was a classless move on his part only due to the recent goings on at the school. I think if this was a team that had just won a NC or come off 5 straight 10 win seasons we'd have been shocked but ok with it. Doing this after the year that they had he may be sending the message that he would have rather played elsewhere. Or he may have just been playing the role of the good sport and palling around with new friends. Either way I personally thought he should have went with this helmet design.

This could not be more of a lie. It is the biggest lie in the history of the internet, in fact. Our commenting system is completely and utterly incapable, outside of one person (the creator) who is not an affiliated writer or editor, of deleting comments or picking what to publish. You can come there and type "loldongs" for six hours and it won't be deleted. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT, PAL.

Dex go away, your vagina is showing... maybe you could borrow some of KRK's wadded panties to cover up your ugly cooch. Your mom goes to college.

KRK said...

Shorty,

I live on the west coast. It wasn't that late. FYI. And don't talk about clean and fun in a thread from a post trying to attempt to insult people. It looks hypocritical.

Andy said...

Dex, KRK and the rest of the WLA:

You really need to move along. You have had your fun, now it is time to go find some other group of Michigan fans to taunt.

You are not welcome or wanted. You no longer have a voice here. Save yourselves the time and effort to type any response, as I am going to delete them.

Shorty the Beachcomber said...

Like I said, it looks like you just can't leave can you KRK... just gotta keep comin' back for more. Go back to patrolling your regular trash and go away. Fuck.

P.S. You're still that awkward guest in the middle of the room... you're like that bad contestant on American Idol who thinks they can sing... Just leave and never come back... spare us all, man. Damn.

Sad that fellow UM fans treat each other like this. I blame Lloyd Carr.

Andy said...

It isn't Carr's fault. I guess I now understand why fans of other schools generally despise Michigan fans. I honestly can’t blame them if WLA is any indication of our fan base.

I blame Ronald Reagan. He enabled their parents to accumulate enough wealth to create a very comfortable lifestyle for them to grow up in. Mommy was always hovering over them praising them and telling they are the absolute center of the universe. There wasn’t anything they could not have because Daddy was always there to provide it. Now we have a bunch of no-fear / self-absorbed / mean-spirited /take-no-prisoners people wandering around out there.

Here is the bottom line: I watch silently as they attack anyone and everyone on MGoBlog. I watched them do this same routine with Johnny at RBUAS. They create no content of interest on their own blog. Every click they get comes from their own self-promotional links on MGoBlog. It is a battle that I no longer choose to fight.
I am entitled to express my own opinion on my own blog. I did not make any insulting comments towards Morgan Trent. I am happy to have anyone who disagrees with my opinions share those thoughts here. I can’t allow someone attack me (or my friends) personally because they do not agree with my opinion. I am entitled to delete any comment I want from my blog.

chathd00d said...

This is pure gold.

I frequent the WLA and Mgo. It's pretty simple, when they disagree with you they aren't shy about it. Don't take is so seriously.

Feel free to join the commenting on their site, even if it's just to cause a raucous, because it's hilarious....keep it up.

carl tabb said...

I saw that over to Ronald Bellamy's. Ridiculous, especially given the overall content of that blog and the way the guy writes. Easily my favorite UM blog. I don't understand why soempeople do that. Apparently one's internets prowess defines one's character. A thought I had: These internets "badasses" that everyone tiptoes around and are seemingly kings of their domain would probably be mocked and ridiculed right out of actual physical social situations where there's face to face contact. The word "nerd" comes readily to mind. And yet, in the anonymity of the web they are thought of as mighty and relevent.

maybe i get lumped into the wla collective as well, and will be treated as such.

most ofyou probably have no idea who i am, or even may not want to know.

but i use to have this reputation for trying to kepe the peace and calm peoples fears, i try to keep that persona.

Looking at it from a perspective of a recruit from around the country, would you rather go to a place where fans are having fun, writing funny things about you, talking about hw great you are, or to place where fans critize you for everything you do, and for everything you say, are tough on coaches, and give nobody the benefit of the doubt?

recruits are kids, kids that get a lot of attention. Kids that, in most cases, dont care about michigan, the way fans do. They go to where they feel the best about. In today's world, bloggers have a big an impact on recruits as anyone. For some as soon as they are old enough to start looking, they are googling their favorite schools and their favorite players. I just cringe when i see stuff like this, not becasue i give one piece of crap about how you feel, but rather how that will look to prospective recruits, who might stumble upon your words.

Much of the same reasons i dont think critizing coaches during hte season does any good. All it does it creates questions among players and coaches, who might see it...

my two cents..

Well, anyway, back to the hideous helmet.

That frontal view...don't you think it looks like a breast cancer awareness promo? Looks like a female on the table being radiated from all sides. Just a thought.

I hear your point about what our bickering and name-calling and flaming insult-fest looks like to others.
Message received.

I also have no problem with dissenting opinions. And given the history of your posts here and elsewhere and their content I have nothing but respect for your words and perspective--particularly on coaching football and game strategy.

So, thanks for providing a different healthy view.

ThI have never been a fan of the WLA and pretty much thought it was meaningless babble. I dislike it even more now. Mgoblog I still enjoy as a read of what's going on from an information aspect but the comments and diary sections are again a waste of time. It's a collection of people with nothing better to do than blow their egos up through the internet. Not worth my time. Dex can argue that they don't censor anything and that everything is posted, which may be true of the WLA since I hardly ever even take the time to read that babble, but it is not true with MGo. Countless times I've seen posts disappear because they didn't conform with the overall (Brian's) sentiment. And the "Liveblogs" that ARE run by the WLA are just a boys club of who's who in their community. Good luck ever seeing anything you wanted to say come up on one of them. Maybe we should have a Spawn via WLA flag football game at a tailgate this year?

If you have not been around much, please do not consider the last few days as the normal for this group. Recent influences from outside the normal audience have impacted some people and many are not reacting well. As a general rule this is a fun group and we like to tease and poke fun at a few tuos regulars and each other but it is normally not this intense. I have not contributed too much over the last few days and wanted to let everyone cool off a little and not participate in the slugfest. Andy and T9 provide some very interesting and informative posts and there is usually alot of funny and tongue in cheek comments but all just for fun. That is why I created my little acronym of the "Determiner" to sort of remind everyone that we just want a place to go to relax and enjoy and have a few laughs. Hopefully we will get back to that very soon.

T9 and Andy,

I have been a loyal Spawner since Day 1. I check this blog daily and have offered comments/suggestions that you have used and not used, it's all good. At the same time I can appreciate WLA and Mgo as well. WLA can be "over the top" but they do offer some value to the Michigan football blogosphere.

Mgo is, admittedly, The Golden Child of the Michigan football blogosphere. Brian posts some things that I do not agree with, but dude uses facts and statistics to make his point. It is up to the reader's own opinion if he agrees with Brian.

Mvictors is awesome with their comments on the media and Michigan football history.

Michigan SportsCenter is great with the facts, just the facts with a bit of commentary.

Varsity Blue is mostly a recruiting blog, those guys have their place too.

The Spawn was created in tribute to Yost, blessed be his name. Yost is our collective "Big Brother" when it comes to humor, fun and I would be remiss to forget "healing pictures."

When considering the Michigan football blogosphere, I need to quote legendary Bob Ufer, "God bless your cotton pickin' Maize and Blue hearts."

I'm just saying...

My goodness, I bury my head in a journal articles for a few days and I miss everything here!

Not that it matters, or that anyone cares, but I do understand your feelings about putting stickers on the Michigan Helmet. I don't quite understand the rabid reaction that occurred after said post.

I love you guys, this is a great place to stay informed about Michigan Football, AND be able to comment and be acknowledged. None of it really matters at this point, but I did want to toss my opinion in anyway. It always feels like a violation when others come to share their opinions in a way that only wishes to destroy the original opinion, and demean the blogger. I bet that doesn't happen at Brian's site or WLA. Just sayin....

616goblue said...

T9, Andy, BAH, GoBlueBob and "used to be K but now Catie" not to mention Sru, SiC and swhetty (I'm missing a few other regular commentors around here, my bad.)

We do not need to apologize for our collective passion for Michigan football, some may saying admitting it is the first step to recovery :-)

As a "Gen X'r" (that's what the term is, sounds better than T9's "post baby boomer" reference earlier, IMO) whose first experience in The Big House was AC's game winning touchdown against Indiana with 0:06 seconds left "on the digital scoreboard" my dream was to play for Bo.

Things changed...after being "born and raised downriver" I didn't want to go to college "only" 40 minutes away from home, so I went to the 616 (now 269) for a MAC education. My maize and blue passion has never waned. A HS football teammate of mine (a year younger) went on to letter 4 yrs as a middle linebacker for Bo and was captain his senior season. His first start was against ND and was GLUED to the tv and would tell anyone within shouting distance, "I played HS football with him!"

When I lived in the 602 and 319, people were stunned about my passion for all things maize and blue since I never attended UM. I just smiled and reminded myself, "they don't understand, that's ok" and moved on.

While living in a 1 bedroom apt in the 602, I had to buy the "pay-per-view" for the UM-CU game as it was not available at any sports bar. When "the artist formerly known as slash" threw the game winning touchdown to the 313's own Stewart, you would have thought I was beating a "red haired step child." [Note: A neighbor actually checked on me to make sure things were ok. True story.]

After moving to the 616, my first game in The Big House was Driesbach to Mercury Hayes against Virginia. I have managed to have season tickets since that season. Since 2004, the tickets have been in my name. I am a proud member of The Victors Club.

What's my point?

Even though I am a MAC grad, "The Victors" will be played (with some other personally significant tunes) during my furneral visitation--let's hope that is 30 years or longer down the road.

Go Blue!

whetstonebuck said...

Well, that caps my Saturday...Catie posted. Wow. All is well.

GoBlueBob said...

616.... I never apologize for my passion for Michigan and did not mean to imply that for Andy, T9 or anyone else. I am similar to you in that I did not graduate from Michigan. Two very important women in my life (my wife and sister) both did graduate from Michigan and I we have had season tickets since 1976. Like you, I lived in the Detroit area and wanted to go away to school. I graduated from a MAC school (WMU)but was a Michigan fan from my middle school days since my sister was attending Michigan at that time. I have been teased by many of my friends for being so passionate for Michgan but I do not let that bother me. I was just trying to point out that the recent comments really were not the normal and I am glad things are starting to get back to normal. (as normal as possble with this group :>)

I have been a Michigan fan my entire life though, so it is nice to finally be attending the school that I have cheered for all of these years.
