This just in:Mark Ingram Sr., former wide out for the Sparties and a member of the 1990 Superbowl Giants team was arrested by Federal Marshalls Friday night.
It seems Mr. Ingram failed to show up December 5th for his previously scheduled 7 year, 8 month incarceration after a conviction for money laundering. You see, he wanted to watch his son, Mark Ingram Jr. play for Alabama in the Sugar Bowl Saturday night......but the judge said no. Soooo, the proud papa went on the lam. He was arrested in an hotel room in Flint, MI--just before the start of his son's football game.
This is so completely ridiculous that I can't even find a way to be funny. Ok---maybe one way, courtesy of Stephen Colbert. ( and not in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM racist. really. so just stop it.)

Morons.
It was good to see someone actually put on a M hat during one of these highly touted HS games on TV. I think Will Campbell was just f-ing with everyone and stirring up the hype. HS recruiting is out of control. I would love to see MI pick up this Boyd QB. He decommited from Tenessee after Kiffin took over and is planning a trip to MI now. He looks damn good.
Boyd is going to either Ohio State or Oregon
Right...

sorry
BAH,
Forcier starts school in a week or two. very unlikely to recruit two multiple star QBs in the same class.
that said, the likelihood of him going anywhere w/ a starting QB w/ more than a year's eligibility left? only one reason for that if he does.
if he does commit to a school w/ an established starting QB w/ 2+ years of eligibility, i suggest you check out what he's driving next fall. it won't be cheap.
T9,
once again, YOU ROCK!
people who are intellectually dishonest with themselves do not understand the concept of using hyberbole to make a point. (I'm refering the use of the video clip in this post.)
a prime example is "little brother logic" when Coach Moment of Silence said "this means more than one win" after beating his Big Brother and did NOT say "this means more than one loss" after the Capital One Bowl game.
I checked with my nephew who got an A- in his calculus class (and was ticked off he didn't get a 4.0)this fall in A2. He checked my work in regards to "if X, then Y" in the sparty game thread.
who says a WMU graduate does not have the ability to think?
interesting statement SIC
wonder how big Tom Brady's car was when he came to Michigan despite Griese having 2 years left.
Henson's must have been even bigger when he came to Michigan when Brady had 2 years left!
the fact is that Pryor will be gone after his junior year. Boyd redshirts his freshman year, is the primary back up to Pryor the following year, and then has 3 years of eligibility as the starter.
Where will Pryor be going? The only feasible destination I can think of for him after his junior year would be possibly prison. NFL teams do not want QBs of his stature. Unless he's drafted as yet another college QB turned receiver/kick returner. Even then he wouldn't go until the 3rd round tops. Remind me again where Heisman winner Troy Smith was drafted?
once again, someone's anger and knee jerk reaction over rides facts, logic, and reason.
Michigan is the only major school to recruit Brady. go back and read ANYTHING about the "Tom Brady Story" and it starts w/ his lack of attention coming out of high school/lack of status in the draft. he didn't have any other offers.
as for Henson, aside from already having received 6 figure checks from the Reds for play baseball, at his signing, Brian had only had a year left (and no one had heard of this Brady guy, anyway).
and finally, until 1997, NOBODY thought Brian would end up being Brian. he was not the starter (except for injuries to others) and had come in as a late sub in 95 & 96.
but, yeah, aside from that, well said, touche', etc.
overrides reason and logic?
jumping to the huge conclusion that boyd would have to get a car to go to a school with a starter in front of him surely overrides reason and logic.
oregon has 7 qb's on their roster and most of them have 2 plus years left - yet he's considering them.
michigan boards were filled with accusations that BJ Daniels wanted payments and that's the only reason he didn't go to michigan. same with pryor.
no one there can admit that a recruit simply doesn't want to come to UM.
when you guys can start winning recruiting battles against tulsa and clemson and stop losing guys to Rice, then come talk to us about trying to get guys like Boyd to come to Michigan instead of a real school
k?
If it helps, you are not alone in your humiliation, rage, & frustration. Dispatch has a front page column on the disappointment of this year's team & how tomorrow night maybe a referendum on Tre$$el's future. So I can see how pissing on our losing one of our 2 QB recruits. Probably helps cover the shame.
We're here for you. And all the other disappointd tosu fans the Dispatch talks about.
Speak for yourself SiC cuz actually, I'm going to laugh with glee when Texas shellacks tUOS tomorrow.
Thanks for 'getting' my random associations 616. I especially like Colbert's warning about the "lock-picking raccoon"
Sru I failed to see where you mentioned Pryor will be in 2 years? Maybe a transfer to a 1-AA school? I'm still stumped.
With all due respect, I didntbsay anything about tomorrows game. I merely cited the Dispatch.
just so it's real clear-
sports page headline:
"Bob Hunter commentary: Fiesta Bowl could turn into referendum on Tressel
Jim Tressel has gone from being the guy who always wins the big one to the guy who never does, which in the $3 million world of college coaching can be a dangerous place to live."
that's one article. the other noteworthy story is headlined:
"Ohio State football | analysis: Over or under?
Outgoing seniors overachieved in many ways, but losing big games might cast them as underachievers "
this isn't ME talking. it's not some other michigan fan or some disreputable rag like the NY Times. this is the Dispatch. ohio's greatest home newspaper and the Pravda to tosu's politburo. the Wolfes don't print nothing w/out going thru tosu, and vice versa. they're the ones suggesting that this team is under performing and saying sweaterboy is on the hot seat; not me.
and i wouldn't mind seeing tosu win tomorrow. we're hosting another party tomorrow, and frankly, last year's was a drag.
besides, switzer jr really has no answer to a good spread. i'm not sure i'd want them to have another coach.
what's funny is that when the dispatch says something disparaging about OSU, it's gospel - the voice of the buckeyes ripping on them
but when the freep or ann arbor news prints something disparaging about michigan, they are asshats that have an agenda
hilarious
as for pryor - he will be a first round draft pick in two years - mark my words
the freep and the news play to a split audience- us & msu. they've always been contradictory and self serving.
whatever the bias of the Detroit papers, you can't seriously being questioning the Dispatch, et al's direct connection w/ tosu and it's media personna, can you?
the Dispatch, and the rest of the Wolfe Media empire (which includes WBNS 1460 am, the voice of the Buckeyes) is tied finanically (and culturally) to tosu.
if you really went to tosu (and aren't just another truck driving alum- hey! that's what Ufer called them!), then you know that.
Herbstriet, Hooley, and Speilman are all on the Wolfe payroll. all the tosu sports broadcasts are on their radio/tv stations, and the Dispatch is the only newspaper in the city.
LMAO at either your ignorance or dishonesty. take your pick.
and 1st round in 2 years??? you wanna go double or nothing on the prior (non pryor) bet?
still waiting for the big disciplinary announcement on the shoplifter.
T9 and Andy,
with threads like this I am sure Yost would be proud.
would like to see a guest column good old F.H. Yost, who now resides in "Blogosphere Vahalla."
Can you make it happen?
methinks you two can.
616,
i dunno- i hear life in Vahalla can be pretty "sweet". gettin him back could be tricky.
maybe we could take up a collection and try bribing him?
btw- a couple of our better recruits playing in the armour all game tonight (yeah, i'm jonesing for sunday night football already). Roh had a good play early.
so the ann arbor news plays to both UM and MSU fans?
nice
and TP will be a first round draft pick in the 2011 draft. after going 3-0 against michigan with 2 bowl victories in two years, he'll have nothing else to prove
and finally, in Coach T's press conference today, he stated that Nathan Williams "is going to miss some playing time."
before any guilt is official
Anyone watching the HS Football all-star game? Looks like we got some Michigan commits.
for anyone interested in current opinions, this is from the front page (not sports page) of today's Dispatch:
http://dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2009/01/05/BUCKEYE_STATE_OF_MIND.ART_ART_01-05-09_A1_VDCD7E0.html?sid=101
the natives are restless...
oh, and the "big" disciplinary action?
it's a big "maybe".
http://dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2009/01/05/osu_notebook05.ART_ART_01-05-09_C5_EVCE5B9.html
hmmm hartline's is a maybe
nate williams WILL have his playing time affected, despite the whole innocent until proven guilty thing
you know, just like carr waited until the arrington stuff played out in court first
and from the insiders on the buckeye forums, if he is found guilty when he goes to court in the spring, he will be suspended next year.
must not be projected to start next year, then.
you post up when he misses a down because of his punishment.
