NFL Playoffs: Wildcard weekend

Quick update this week, since there were only 4 games in the NFL.

• Philadelphia WR Jason Avant had 5 catches for 47 yards helping the surprisingly hot Eagles beat the Vikings in Minnesota 26-14.

• The Eagles victory meant the season ends for Vikings All-Pro Guard Steve Hutchinson. Another great season for Hutch, as he has not missed a start in the last 6 seasons.

• Arizona WR Steve Breaston had 2 catches for 39 yards helping the Cardinals win their first playoff game since 1947. Defensive Tackle Gabe Watson added 2 tackles in the 30-24 victory.

• The Miami Dolphins lost to the Ravens, ending the rookie seasons for Tackle Jake Long and QB Chad Henne. Jake started all 16 games for the Dolphins this year and I expect him to make it to the Pro Bowl for many years.

Avant's contribution went far beyond his stats. the Eagles started inside their own 15 several times, and Avant caught 3/4 passes for first downs that moved them out of their own endzone and helped the Eagles change the field position of the game.

it was pretty clear that Jason has become McNabb's "go to" guy in tight 3rd situations.

Meanwhile Braylon Stonehands was seen at a local sculptors trying to remove the concrete from his palms.
