Lost in the mind numbing FOX presentation of the Texas Band and Colt McCoy's loved ones on Monday night -- was this brief and interesting shot of an Ohio State fan celebrating a Buckeye first down.Upon further review, it appears to me that the Baltimore Ravens gave Troy Smith some time off to fly to Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl. Fresh off yet another victory over Jake Long and Chad Henne -- Troy was all smiles.
Nice hat big fella.

i'm not sure, but i think that's the same Homburg Michael wore at the end of the "Godfather".
also, EDSBS has a terrific Poll going on:
"How would you best describe Ohio State's offense?"
and here I thought that it was MC Hammer.
can't touch this!!!!
Doing a blog.

Maybe he was there to talk to Pryor about his future. 'Look at me TP I get to come watch my old school play in silly hats. I'm not needed on the Ravens because they have a rookie QB from a never heard of college who is our starter and far superior to me. Can't wait till you're in the NFL and can ride the pine with me."
insert chad henne joke here
hey! after watching Monday's game, i really think Pryor has a future in the NFL now. he's going to be a 1t round pick in the NFL draft in two years...
as a wide receiver!
Hey Sru:
Wanna make a bet who has a longer NFL career, Henne or Troy Smith ?
does it matter really?
ty detmer was a 10 year nfl qb
alex van pelt 8 yrs
marques tuiasosopo & chris redman 7 yrs
hell john friesz played more than a decade
if henne doesn't get to start next year or the year after, he's going to end up with those guys, just like troy
the window of opportunity for being an nfl starter is tiny and once it's closed, it's usually shut for good
i dunno, Andy. steve young sat the bench a long time. so did elvis. and that time kurt warner spent in the "minor" leagues didn't seem to hurt him any.
sitting behind an aging starter (ala chad pennington) isn't the worst thing in the world for a young QB. and it can take more than a year or two. ask aaron rogers.
and if not, holding the clipboard for a $1 million/year as a back up isn't too bad. ask todd collins. he's been a back up for most of his 14 years in the NFL, and he's still thrown more tds than all the tosu qbs combined have in that same time period.
I think non starting as a rookie and sitting behind a veteran starter albeit Chad Pennington is better than being benched by a rookie who came from a college that your school would have destroyed.
Delaware does wear those cool helmets... and they lost to Appy State in the FCS Finals.
Flacco was a 1st round draft pick no?
Pennington is Pennington AND came from Marshall - wouldn't Michigan destroy Marshall? Well back when Pennington was QB?
and to SIC's point - backup QB is the best job in the world.
Although I knew Dave Ragone very well when he was growing up - his brother was my college room mate and best friend. He was the first player ever named Conference USA Offensive Player of the year 3 times and was known for pretty much single handedly beating FSU on national TV in an unbelievable rain storm. Unfortunately he was drafted by Houston the year after they drafted David Carr so he was pretty much screwed. He got sent to NFL Europe and was the MVP there as well. But no way were they going to play him over their big money Carr. He hung up his cleats instead of trying to hang on as a backup.
now, sru & i have to find away to put aside our differences and decide if we really want him w/ the Browns' 1st round pick, or are there more durable options???

Pennington's Marshall team was pretty darn good. Also T Smith isn't the backup he's the backup to the backup. So in his case yes it's bad.
The Browns could either take Wells or Laurinitis in the 5th pick. I would be happy with either. Probably Laurinitis would be best at this moment though as they deeply need a LBer. They are somewhat deep at RB with Lewis still being pretty capable. He'd ha a better year had the QBs and WRs performed.
uhhh

troy is #2 AND troy was #1 in preseason when he contracted a very rare infection that was actually life threatening - he lost 20 lbs in a matter of weeks
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp08/news/story?id=3550593
by the time he came back, flacco was entrenched as the starter (see drew bledsoe)
as for the browns, i don't want beanie - too fragile and IF he got hurt it would just be yet another disappointment. i'm thinking malcolm jenkins (we need cb's big time) or ray maualuga.
hopefully mangenious doesn't run the 3-4 - we don't have the personnel for it and it's HEAVILY dependent on personnel (ask romeo). if he does go 3-4, i think maualuga is better prepared for it than lil animal.
