The Emu at EMU ?

After the avalanche of content and posting this week (hell, we pulled T9 away from her real job for a couple of minutes) I need to get focused. Last night I began preparing the Eastern Michigan University edition of Know Your Foe.

During the process of my extensive research I have discovered some great old pictures of Huron/Eagles football teams from years past. In the 1970's they wore a jersey with a large "EMU" on the front each shoulder.

Of course my mind starts wandering around and I start thinking: what if.... instead of going to Notre Dame and playing in the 2000's Jimmy Clausen went to Eastern Michigan and played in the 1970's?

The photoshop possibilities are endless.

Let's go back to the 1930's in Germany. The Germans needed to build the greatest blimp mankind has ever known and they needed a model to pattern the design after..............in walks Jabba the Weis.

Let's not go back to burning blimps. I've ridden my mind of that image.

I would have been much happier if Eastern had changed the name from Hurons to Emus. At least that would have shown some degree of creativity as opposed to the name that is shared by just about every other team on the planet. What really bothered me about the whole process was rather than putting it up to a vote or a contest, the Administration just picked the name. And they wonder why many alumni don't support the school.

Oh yeah...The Hindenberg is not a blimp...It is a Zeppelin. A blimp is non-rigid and a zeppelin is rigid.

Notables from ESPN's Bottom Ten...

Waiting list: Big 12's power ranking, Marshall (1-1), Memphis (0-2), Notre Dame's attempt to run out the clock, Ohio State's offense, UTEP (0-2), Washington State (0-2).

Although it wasn't exactly what Andy had predicted, at least we did actually make the cover of SI in the corner. Maybe it's a good thing considering the last time we were the main feature on the cover was in the '07 preview, and we promtly lost to appy state
