Homecoming week. Indiana. It was 30 years ago that my heart was forever sealed with Michigan maize and blue.Michigan was ranked 10th in the country and highly favored to beat Indiana. However Lee Corso‘s Hoosiers were a solid 5-2 and they held a 14-7 halftime lead. After starting quarterback B.J. Dickey got injured the Wolverines ran their way back into the lead with a 50 yard Lawrence Reid touchdown and a Butch Woolfolk two yard plunge. IU had the ball in the final minutes behind 14-21.
Hoosier QB Tim Clifford connected with Nate Lundy for 54 yards before throwing a three-yard touchdownpass to Dave Harangody with 55 seconds remaining. Down by one, Lee Corso decided against going for the win and went for the tie by kicking the extra point. Rather than try to describe what happened next, you just need to watch and listen to Bob Ufer:

The fact that Bo went for a 4th and 1 inside his own 40 with about 30 seconds left tells you how much he wanted to crush Lee Corso's face.
Andy,
Thank you.
It was 30 yrs ago when Indiana came to Ann Arbor and I attended my first Michigan game. My older brother got student section tickets, 10 rows up from the field and we ran onto the tartan turf after Anthony Carter, the human torpedo, scored on the last play of the game.
Go Blue!
actually, what's really entertaining is watching how Corso still lights up when they show this highlight.
30 years later and he's still bitter.
which is delicious
I was sitting in section 6 row 15 in the south east corner of the stadium at this game. AC's pass route was almost directly at us when he made the catch and then cut up field. This is still one of my most memorable moments at Michigan Stadium.
Rumor has it Wangler audibled that pass play to AC to win the game.
ie--it wasn't called
posted under Lions on accident...
BTW anyone watch college gameday last Sat and see the "In Rod We Trust' and 'May The Forcier Be With You' signs in Texas?
Most memorable sporting event I've ever been at, sitting up in the corner of the student section as a 12 y/o w/my mom (dad was sitting behind the band, 'cause that was the best my sister, a senior, could scrape together for us that season).
I'll always remember Corso's delayed reaction of horror to catching Larry Reid's "fumble", and how, after the completion & run by AC, the Big House went from almost silent to unbelievably loud -- like someone turned the volume knob all the way up to 11!
Also great was watching Bo reminisce about it a year later on Michigan Replay (during his first Run to the Roses) w/Brandstatter. They dubbed the video w/Ufer's call, and even Bo couldn't contain his giddiness when listening to Ufe!
Meeeechigan!
