Spawn Fantasy Football - Week 1

Week 1 of the NFL season has come and gone and what a week it was! So many great games with wild finishes it gets me excited for the remaining 16 weeks of football. Much like the NFL the fledgling Spawn FF league also had it's close games with a few matchups going down to the Monday night games to decide the winners.

In the first matchup we have Bigassham against Zoltan's Heroes. Zoltan's was favored prior to the games but thanks to unbelievable defensive play by the Philadelphia Eagles. Bigassham was able to pull the upset and also lead the league in points for the week. Philly had an incredible 7 turnovers against Carolina on their way to stomping the Panthers. They did have a minor setback of Donovan Mcnabb breaking/bruising some ribs but really Philly fans how long did you really give him till he got hurt? Zoltan's team had a workman's like day with a great day coming from TE John Carlson. Carlson apparently fired up over ND's loss hauled in 95 yards and 2 Tds.

Matchup 2 saw the 9 Finger Freaks against the Bursley Busses. Bursley were the favorites and they proved it as the games unfolded. Having Tony Romo throw for career highs doesn't hurt either. 9 Finger running with ex Michiganers Tom Brady and Braylon Edwards just didn't have enough to come back late against Bursley's. Maybe if the team was owned by Tom he would have found a way to win. Amazing comeback from who may turn out to be the greatest NFL QB to have ever played. Braylon was robbed of a TD in the Clowns opener but did manage to actually catch balls. Usually though he was out of bounds.

Matchup the third had our closest battle with He Hate Me escaping the upset from SleepingwiththeEnemy. He Hate Me was led by "All Day" Adrian Peterson, who if not for the late long TD run might not have won it for Hate Me. LT could have pulled out the win for Sleeping in the late Monday game but he just didn't have the stats to do it rushing for only 55 yards and 1 TD. The once predominant number one FF player has seen his time on the throne vanish.

In the final matchup Defenestrators put the hurt to our cellar dweller of the week Smooth Operators. Smooth went with the Arizona Cardinals as his main horse of the week and they laid the iron egg against SF. Defenestrators QB Drew Brees had his way with the Lions and obliterated his expectations for the week. Bad bad game for the Lions to open the season with trying to get off the snide. The Saint's offense when running on all cylinders is unbelievable to watch. Brees will make many a FF owner rich this year I believe.

Week 2 matchups will see Bigassham against Smooth Operators. He Hate Me takes on the Defenestrators. SleepingwiththeEnemy goes up against 9 Finger Freaks. Finally Bursleys Busses battles Zoltan's Heroes. It should be a frantic week of free agency and hopefully smack talk.
