Down goes Charlie...

"Every game you will have a decided schematic advantage..."
~ Charlie Weis to his players shortly after he was hired at Notre Dame

Fired. Let the wild coaching search rumpus begin.
As always, there are a ton of names being tossed around. Bob Stoops ? Not a chance. One name I keep hearing is Jim Harbaugh. I would be very shocked if Harbaugh jumps ship to Notre Dame. If he does, it will essentially eliminate any chance he has to become the Michigan football coach in the future.

No chance. RichRod has that job locked down for the next twenty years. Which of course caused the gold index to rise what with all those little gold britches that will have to be cast.

On a more serious note, I would fear Harbaugh at Michigan's helm. I hope he stays at Stanford and takes occasional pot-shots at Ann Arbor.

wv = "nopil." There is nopil that will make this nightmare go away.

I'm thinking Brian Kelly from Cincy

$18 million to walk away. I know how that feels. I was so obnoxious at one job that everyone took up a collection and gave me $80 to leave. Sweet. Easiest money I ever made.

Whoever gets Brian Kelly will have a great coach for years to come. I pray its not ND or MSU. We(Michigan) should go get him. And should have gotten him instead of Richrod. I heard Kelly won't take the ND job cause he has ties to some BC people or something like that. Was that just a rumor or what? But nobody wants the ND job. It will be intresting to see who gets it. I always though Jon Gruden would make a good college coach. He should take the ND job.

Probably the best fit for the ND job is the Lucky Charms leprechaun.
It'll take some magic to get that program on its feet.

Honestly I couldn't tell if the Harbaugh comment was sarcastic or not? Does UM really want him after what he said and the Mike Hart stuff? I think it would be great for the rivalry if he went to ND but I doubt it will happen.

phil, just one job? You're too modest.

I heard that they were going to dig out one of the lost Catholic rituals that allows a priest to raise the dead in order to bring back Leahy.

I heard that since ND has had so much trouble in the red zone that they are changing the name of touchdown Jesus to field goal attempt Jesus.

I wish Jabba the front butt good luck in the future. The money will pay for lots of buffets.

xjwales: I was serious about the Harbaugh comment. Despite his typical "insert foot into mouth" behavior -- I think he has done a great job at Stanford and San Diego.

IF (notice the capital letters) it comes down to Michigan needing a coaching change - he would be my top choice at this stage.

I think Charlie lands quite nicely in Cleveland as the Browns OC.

I think Harbaugh at Michigan is a real “near future” possibility especially if Bob Bowlsby is hired as the new Michigan AD.

Now I haven’t seen a list or anything, but I can see him as a candidate since he’s successfully moved up the AD chain and there’s only a few jobs that might be considered as a step up from Stanford, plus he’s running an athletic program at an "academics first" school, he's from the Midwest, likes to get “his own” football coach (he hired Ferentz and Harbaugh) and he was AD when Mary Sue Coleman was the U of I President.

So, IF Bowlsby were to end up at UM this fall and RR has another year like this past one, I’m sure that you’ll hear statements like "Coach and program will be evaluated" and Harbaugh will start saying, "I've always been a Michigan Man, sorry for what I said in the past, we can get back to Michigan Football, I have a greater understanding of the rivalry" etc.

A lot can be forgiven if things stay the same or get worse.
