More Hardware: Meryl Davis and Charlie White, SILVER MEDAL

The Daily tells all.
But, for those of you early risers, the pair made an appearance on the Today Show where Matt Lauer nicely pointed out that the two are juniors at Michigan. Then he asked which would they rather have....a Big Ten Champsionship and a trip to the Rose Bowl or their silver medals......
douche.

Today's excitement???? Men's elimination round begins for hockey
Hold on for Thursday's Gold Medal Game in Women's Hockey vs. Caaanada!!

So when these kids get back does the University have some kind of program to honor them or anything? Or is it just like the Phelps situation where they just parade him out in the middle of a game?

Phelps really only trained here, these 4 young adults actually attend the University. I hope that they do something special for both teams. Interesting that the Gold medal winners train with White and Davis in Canton.

I am not a huge Ice Dancing fan, but I had to watch, I was truly proud of both teams and thought that they represented the United States and the University of Michigan in the most spectacular way! GO BLUE, GO USA!

I hope they answered... What is this Big Ten Championship you are referring to ? We have never seen or heard of that before...

Seriously. I like hot spandexed clad college girls and metrosexual dudes as much as the next guy. I also recognize that ice dancing requires an incredible level of fitness and ability... but I have trouble with calling it a "sport".

Maybe I just can't stand competitive events that require a third party judge to arbitrate the winner. The opportunity of deceit and unfair bias to just too great.

Half of the Olympic events are based un third party judging though. Never been a huge fan of the Olympics in general. It's way too political for me.

I will normally watch figure skating and last night I was kind of glancing at the ice dancing. I too have some trouble with calling either a sport. Although figure skating has some required moves but there is still a judgement call on how well those moves are made.

Andy, nothing personal, but you were the same guy calling Curling a great sport?

(Note to Matt Lauer - damn it man, WE ARE MICHIGAN and we'll take a Big Ten Championship, a trip to Pasadena and whatever Gold, Silver, and Bonze medals we damn well please, when we damn well please. Screw you.)

How is curling not a great sport? Sure it's not an "active" sport in that it doesn't take great physical strength or anything but it takes a hell of a lot of strategy and precision. Curling is like chess just without the memorization.

Hammm... "Curling is like chess..."

I consider chess a game and not a sport. My oldest son, Phil considers any "sport" that can be done by overweight, out of shape older person (I think he means me) is not really a sport because you do not have to be physically fit to do it. This would include things like golf and tennis, which I still consider sports, although they become more like a game when done more for recreation. Chess does not require any physical skills but a high level of mental skills (leaves me out). There is much room for discussion and debate regarding this topic but I am done.

Curling is a "sport" because an actual score is kept based on the physical capabilities and measurable accomplishments of the participants. A winner is determined based on the score.

Ice dancing, Ice skating, snowboard jumping, and that ski arial stuff I saw last night are "events" that require a judge to award an arbitrary score. I recognize these "events" require a great deal of athletic ability, but the judge is human and can fall prey to outside bias and influence.
