Wallpaper Wednesday: Super Bowl XLIV

Super Bowl Sunday is a big day for former Wolverines Jonathan Goodwin and Mike Hart. Goodwin is the starting center for the New Orleans Saints and Hart is a reserve running back for the Indianapolis Colts.

When he was in Ann Arbor, Goodwin played all three offensive line positions (center, guard, and tackle). He was name to the All B11 team as a senior. He was a 5th round draft pick by the Jets in 2002. As a four year started, Hart is the leading rusher in Michigan football history and produced a school record 28 career 100+ yard games. He was drafted by the Colts in the 6th round of the 2008 NFL draft.

Personally I am rooting for the Saints, but I won't be upset to see Mike Hart get a Super Bowl ring if the Colts happen to win.

Edit: I have fixed the link to the 1280x800 wallpaper version. I need to stop editing from my iPhone while waiting in line at the airport.

I wonder if ol' motor mouth mike would trade a Super Bowl Ring for some little gold pants?

C'mon, it's much too quiet around here.

Someone else with a self-worth problem. How do you all do it?

Hmmm also busy holding closed door sessions to prep for the NCAA update on your violations

whet, ever think that those of us who are maize and blue fans have things in our lives that keep us busy and therefore prohibits us from posting here in SpawnNation? Things like CAREERS, FAMILY, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING, etc....

Not everyone can surf the web all day while living in their mother's basement under the guise of "job hunting."

I'm not saying, I'm just saying...

616,

Nope, never thought of that. I went with the common understanding that being Maize and Blue fans-by definition-meant you were vacuous, ego-centric human beings.

Therefore, yes, I kind of missed the point, but since we're both here pass the pizza, please.

Speaking of the basement, does the banging of the pipes bother you in the wee hours? It does me.

A closed door meeting?? Oh no !!! Nothing says NCAA violations like a closed door meeting.

Sru: You are pathetic AND you are starting to get on my nerves again. It may be time for my quarterly threat to ban you and your comments. I suggest you find another outlet for the sewage that flows from your fingers.

How many people here think that Sru is really Drew Sharp ?

sometimes, you read something and you think: "exactly what i would have guessed".

and so:

second page, discussion on tosu/sweaterboy's interpersonal "style".

exactly what i imagined it would be

Andy,
just scrolled thru the other comments & read yours.

let me offer this opinion:

sometimes we need to not only thank our friends, but also our enemies. i get up everyday and, on my knees, thank God that i'm not a buckeye fan. it's not their boorish behavior or lack of class, or their single mindedness or lack or perspective that makes them so unattractive.

it's their general, almost continual, unhappiness w/ themselves and their school. they never think they get enough "respect". they never feel that the media or press appreciates them. they almost always complain amongst themselves about the coaching, the recruiting, the on the field performance.

sure, they bluster to other fans & strut their recent records, but when they don't get the response they wanted, they collectively sulk, embittered.

i have a half million of them to remind me everyday.

you? you only have Sru. let's face it, no matter what he might type in response to this, his actions confirm his general lack of satisfaction w/ being a buckeye fan.

think about it- his team went 11-2, won the Rose, completed a 6th straight win over Michign, won their whatever many conference titles over the last decade, and how does he spend his time?

does he go around celebrating? throwing a party? hanging out w/ his fellow buckeyes? no, he trolls a michigan site to make lame shots at a likely nothing ncaa investigation or bad word pun about a corner back that was tossed off the team months ago.

is that the actions of a happy man? i think not.

michigan fans w/ the same record would spend their time talking amongst themselves, eating brie', comparing notes on Pinot Noirs. our mocking of tosu (or moosu or ND or the rest of the world for that matter) is a side line affectation. an inside joke told amongst ourselves- did you hear the one about the buckeye fan who served red wine chilled?

not the buckeyes. their wins seem to bring them no real, abiding contentment. they need to go out & burn couches or write snotty posts, just so someone else will acknowledge them. it's rather sad, in a delicous, pathetic way.

so, it's your site, and you have done a wonderful job picking up Yost's legacy. but let me suggest you keep poor Sru around, if only to remind those of you not so fortunate to live in Columbus that even @ 5-7, it's still much better to be a Wolverine!

Whoa, there big fella. Apparently, you don't realize that we Buckeye fans can do both...at the same time. "Pass the duck pate, please. I believe a nice
Noble Riesling is in order."

"...they need to go out & burn couches or write snotty posts, just so someone else will acknowledge them. it's rather sad, in a delicous, pathetic way."

That's only because we haven't discovered the fine art of constructing a straw man. Once we do, we'll burn it.

now Whets,

you & i both know that deep down, you're not really one of "them".

you had a relative (father?) who worked/taught/went there years ago, who when you were a kid regaled you w/ tales of how much he loved it in Columbus, and since they win a lot and have very shiny helmets, you adopted them as "your" team.

that makes you a "fan". but you're not a "buckeye". you, personally, have probably never burned a couch, thrown a beer can filled w/ piss, or pushed the elderly to the ground because they were wearing michigan gear in Columbus (and while most tosu fans haven't really gone so far as to shove old people to the ground themselves, you'd be shocked by how many have stood by & watched others do it w/ out doing a thing to stop it, and then later posted comments saying things like "it happens everywhere", "that happened to my ___ in Ann Arbor", or my personal favorite- "they had it coming". you've never done any of that, either).

so, go ahead & continue to be an amusing tosu fan, but don't forget- you're not really much of couch burner either.

and that you're really only here for the chicks.

Whet,
I have a question about the middle school you are attending. Do you think you are being pressured to be a buckeye fan? Do the cool kids wear buckeye hats or jackets and you are just trying to fit in?
Granted you are still young and impressionable and you're trying to tear away from mom's apron, but try thinking for yourself once in awhile. Oh, I know that seems impossible but soon you'll be an awkward teenager and you're going to have to start making some of your own decisions. It won't be long and you'll start taking an interest in the opposite sex. Most girls, girls worth knowing don't really go for a guy who is a buckeye fan. You might as well have "Loser" tattooed to your forehead. So get smart and don't be afraid of growing up.

buckeye or not, you are a gentleman of honor whets & i'll meet your request.

i choose small batch bourbons at 2 paces, until one of us can no longer stand.

let me get back to you on finding a "second" for the event?

SiC,

I applaud your choice of weapon. Please tell me you won't go boutique on such a serious occasion.

Regarding your "Second," might I suggest Mrs. SiC the OSU alumnus. After all, she will need someone to squire her home after the duel. I will be available: You, not so much.
