In addition to delivering some very entertaining games, the Olympics reignited my love for hockey. I had basically stopped watching the non playoff games since the NHL lockout five years ago. While the RedWings may not be as strong as they have been in the past, I am very much looking forward to the rest of the NHL season. Once the playoffs begin and intesity and passion kicks up another notch - I will be glued to my TV.

4/1 (April's Fools), 4/7, & 4/9-
you're finishing the season by going down like a sweet muffin
Maybe this year your team wll win its first playoff series...ever.
Doing so might help the team stay in town, why... have no idea?
Andy, that would require the Blue Jackets to actually make the playoffs first. While getting in isn't certain for the Red Wings either this year, being out is almost a certainty for the BJs.
BJs ????
giggle giggle
"C"BJs.
and we're not out of it (yet).
and yeah, the CBJ's current economic plight is an example why Columbus will always be a cowtown, instead of becoming something bigger like Charlotte/Indy/etc.
coulda been a contender, coulda had class.
I wish Cleveland would get a team instead of the little minor league teams they've always had. Those games are fun but I'd like to go to an actual NHL game.
We have a new AHL team in Austin. I have season tickets with a couple of friends. I love it. You can't beat the price.
I love to watch hockey but I generally only end up watching a handful of games during the season. I don't particularly care for the clutching and grabbing that goes on in the NHL. The Olympic Ice is way more conducive to good hockey, but the owners will never go for that.
I just hope the Wings can get a nice boost from the Olympic break.
Oh yeah...baseball season starts today as well (sort of).
Meh baseball. So many things wrong with the professional side of that sport that I can't stand it anymore. Baseball should stop after high school.
did i say the CBJs weren't out of it yet?
i erred.

on the other hand, if any of you want the tickets to that ded wings game now....
Hockey and baseball are at opposite ends of the action spectrum. I love both, but baseball can drag at times with not much action going on. Hockey has more fast paced continuous action than most sports and that is why it is one of my favorite sports to watch in person. TV misses alot of the action with players coming on and off the ice as play goes on. Other than lacross, I am not aware of another sport that allows that. Anyway, the Michigan hockey team starts play in the CCHA tournament this weekend and must do well to get into the NCAA tournament. They have not had a very good year and if they miss the tournament it will be the first time in 20 years. They have made it for 19 years in a row but that is probably over this year. This will be the first time since I have had season tickets (about 6 years) that they did not get a bye in the first round. I will report back with my take on the Friday results. Hammm has already emailed me with the stadium layout for ticket sales for the Big Chill event this December. I will be attending for sure and trying to get tickets for Hammm in the good sections.
I am working the plan to come up for the BIG-CHILL game in December. It needs to get approved by the CFO. She can sometimes be a speed bump between my wants and needs.
Such is the price of marital bliss
I love hockey! GO WINGS! I am excited for the Big Chill as well, that has to be a spectacular event! After 3 years in Ann Arbor, I still have not attended a Michigan hockey game at Yost......hmmm.....I need to work on that next season!
Hockey Update. Michigan won tonight against Lake Superior State in the first game of the best of three round one series. The final score was 5-2 and they played a decent game. It was a very small crowd since the students are on break and it was not as loud as it normally is.
