iPad background: Old stadium pressbox

My wife bought me an Apple iPad for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I love it. For those of you that have not seen one of these things, it has this awesome "rotating screen" to allow you to work both vertically and horizontally. The resolution of the iPad is 1024x768, but wallpapers need to be 1024x1024 to allow the image to fill the screen in both directions.

I took one of my all time favorites, cropped it and did some contrast and color enhancements. This great image was one of our first in the ongoing Wallpaper Wednesday feature (August 2008). From time to time, when the mood strikes me, I will share new iPad sized wallpapers.

The actual image was taken during the famous 2005 Penn State game. If you want to see more from the former Michigan student and Marching Band member (MightyBoyBrian) that took it, you can view his Flickr photostream here. Thanks again to Brian for sharing this shot with the rest of us. It is truly amazing.

That is awesome.
How are you enjoying the Maxipad? Hope you held out and got a 3g one just so you don't need a wifi spot in order to enjoy it. You have an iphone too do you not? I've heard mixed opinions on the ipad saying it's great if you don't already have a smartphone but if you do then theres really no point. I'd sill like to have one as I love all things Apple.

It is easily the coolest toy in my toy box right now. The screen is so f-ing clear... I can't tell you how nice it is.

The primary purpose for me is to keep me entertained during the many hours I am on an airplane. I am in the process of re-coding all my DVD movies and Michigan games.

And yes, I held out for the 3G 64GB version. I am spoiled.

Good man. Yea I can definitely see that the best use of it is for someone who travels on business. Delivering for UPS on Saturdays we had the primary bulk of them when they were released. I delivered probably 150 of them to residences and then a bunch of them to the local Best Buy. They had a line waiting outside it was ridiculous.

I seriously hope they transfer the Art Deco lettering to the new stadium. I love the look of them.

And that's an awesome picture.

I'm waiting for all you early adopters to work out the kinks.

Me and my second generation Kindle are doing just fine.

Hey all,

I'm so honored the shot I took with my canon SD400 powershot has lived this long in the hearts and on the screens of Michigan fans.

The best camera is the one you have with you. I have better cameras now but it's a fool's hope that I'll ever be in the same place for such a moment again.

Here's a link to my Michigan Band folder. It has a lot of panoramic shots of the big house including a panorama of the whole cloud formation that came sweeping over the press box at the end of the Penn state game.

Mikoyan,

It looks like they did, but I don't know about the prominence of the location.

A perfect picture detailing why kids want to play football in the sun belt.

Yea Whet...

They never have clouds or sunsets in the SEC.

Can your Second Generation Kindle play Avatar in HD? I don't think so...

Thanks for the DIG DUG tip. THey don't have the iPad version out yet, only the iPhone. It is just as well...I am not sure I can play it before 2AM or without a monochrome green monitor.

Brian

Thanks for the link! As a fellow photographer, your stuff is very very good.

For my money, there is nothing better than a little band smack talk!

OT note for those racing fans. This weekend is the Monaco GP. Greatest racing circuit in the world complete with stunning visuals the entire race. Speed channel Sunday at 730AM I believe. Also qualifying is tomorrow morning at 730 or 8.
Set your DVR if you won't be awake.

Looked at the picture; had a late Fall chill run up my spine. Just sayin'.

PS - I live in the land of the perpetual sunset.
