The Maurice Clarett "back to school" story has not gone un-noticed. I just finished a big 3 day work related meeting and will be gathering my thoughts to post tomorrow or Friday.

He's got a lot of guts going back there. I'm sure there's a lot of negativity towards him.

Anyone besides Mikoyan going to the Thunder Over Michigan air show next weekend? I'm trying to talk the wife into going.

Bigasshammm,
If you miss the Thunder Over Michigan show, there is going to be the Blue Angels in Cleveland Sept 4-6.

I will not be paying to go to this airshow but will get the benefit of seeing most of it from my deck. We live about 2 miles from Willow Run and see the Yankee Air Museum plane often. The last time the Blue Angels were here they flew directly over the house and were so low we could see the pilots.

Bob I'm envious of you. I would love to be able to see a B-17 or 25 flying most of the year.

Mik We're already planned to head up to Cleveland the Friday before the air show to watch the planes come in and the Angels practice. It's the best day as there is no crowd whatsoever and you can park and sit right next to the water by the end of the runway. Awesome views. Plus I'd rather go to the Thunder due to the 17s being there. I'll take WW2 planes over acrobatics any day.

I've also decided that I'm going to build a 1/48th B-17 again and get a bunch of the detail accessories and make it the best model I've done yet. I may even start my own blog to chronicle the progress.

It's not quite a full B-17....but cool nonetheless:

This has got to be one of my favorite wallpapers you've made.

Thanks for keeping things going despite the offseason.

I'd fully support a continuation of countdown posts given that we're actually almost within a month(!) of the season.

Mik I've thought about getting that as my grandpa was a waist gunner on a B-17. Mostly where my love for the airplane comes from besides the general awesomeness of WW2 radial engines. Any plane that can take him on 50 bombing missions and bring him back every time is a wonder. Only to come home and get cancer before I was born. Bollocks.

If you get it, you might get a decent deal on it now but it's pretty barebones. Plus I think there are some accuracy issues with it.

Me, I'm more of a B-24 guy mainly because of where I live....

We're heading up to the Air show on Saturday. Bought my tickets online already. Just me the wife and our 2 and a half year old who already loves planes. (she's daddy's girl!)

Mik I just built a 48th scale B-24 that looks real good but I really have no interest in. If we could figure a way for you to get it I'd be happy to let you have it.
I'll take some pictures and can email them to you or something? My email is kpete879 at att.net.
