Big Ten, Big Decision
As the leaders of the Big Ten work to restructure the conference, there has been A LOT of conversation and passion about what to do with the Michigan/Ohio State game. Not that it will make any difference, but I am interested in seeing what you all think.

I was ok with the change but I have been converted with all the recent readings and think things should stay as is. Seriously we're not going to be hurting if we're both in the same division.
there's a big difference for me between what i'd like to see, and what i have accepted.
w/ Brandon, Smith, and now Gee all saying that the 2 schools are going to be in opposite divisions, i've accepted that the game is going to be moved up into the mid- conference schedule.
what i'd like to see, is the 2 in the same division, w/ the game at the end of the season, w/ the winner going to play in the championship, and the loser looking at the Citrus Bowl, et al.
if you consider that up until the mid 70's the loser sat home on new year's anyway, the thought of missing a shot @ the conference title game & a bcs bid is pretty consistent w/ history.
that said, i'm expecting them to move it to October.
i suppose the bright side of all that is that by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, the losing side of the family will be over it enough to enjoy the holiday;)
Michigan and OSU should be in separate divisions but should still play each other the last game of the season. They would only have a rematch in the championship game about once a decade or so - very infrequently. This whole thing is being pushed by the rest of the conference who want to see the stature of Michigan and OSU diminished.
I agree with SIC that it does not matter what any of us think and it almost sounds like they have already decided and are just breaking it to us slowly. Here is how I would like to see the divisions:
Division A
Michigan
Ohio State
Michigan State
Purdue
Indiana
Northwestern
Michigan vs. Ohio State last reg. season game
Division B
Penn State
Nebraska
Iowa
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Illinois
Penn State vs Nebraska last reg. season game
This sets up a potential new rivalry with PSU and Nebraska, eliminates MSU from the phony Penn State rivalry (could argue PSU / Neb is phony, but who cares), and also sets up two high profile games for the conference on the last day of the reg. season.
I'm not sure. I would like to see the rivalry continue as it is now one of the longest continued rivalries in college football. I would still like to see it played at the end of the season but I think that depends on how the divisions shake out. If they were gonna go for logical divisions it would be like this:
East
Michigan
Ohio State
Michigan State
Purdue
Indiana
Penn State
West:
Iowa
Wisconsin
Nebraska
Northwestern
Illinois
Minnesota
The problem with this alignment is that it leaves three powerhouses (If Michigan returns to its rightful place) in the same division and 1 Powerhouse and 2 sometimes powerhouses in the other Divison (Nebraska, Wisconsin and Iowa). It would set up either a Wisconsin or Iowa and Nebraska rivalry though.
The other possibility:
North:
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Michigan
Michigan State
Ohio State
Purdue
South:
Nebraska
Iowa
Penn State
Illinois
Northwestern
Indiana
This one might align the teams better.
