I have not talked to T9 yet, but if Yost is back behind his keyboard for more than just a "WTF rant" -- we will likely suspend operations here and reconvene over there.

We launched this place to fill the void when the MZone left. If it is back, I will stop pretending to be a blogger resume my normal life.

You can't suspend operations here.....

I just saw on MGoBlog that there may be a flyover of one of the Yankee Airforce B-25s prior to the game this Saturday.

Mik

Let's wait to see what happens.

Yea it's great and all that Yost may be back. But this is the Spawn that I know and love and it wouldn't be the same if this shut down for him.
You haven't left us. He did for 2 years.

Bob the B-25 is supposed to flyover the dedication ceremony and then 2 A-10s for the NA.

i will continue to annoy both sites if you continue to remain open for business Andy

On a side note looks like we'll be making the trip for the Oct 16th Homecoming game against Iowa. I'll be looking for tickets in the next week and hope to buy some asap.

just like that?!?
you walk out, leave us here to fend for ourselves?
You don't call, you don't write and then you come back two years later expecting all to be better?
For all to be forgiven???

You had me at 'what the f*&%$k' Yost.

I agree with Andy. If Yost is home for real then we can hiatus over here. Of course, that's providing he isn't two timing us and lying just to get back into the basement....
I know his type. (entendre intended)

Yost has the com, though, so Andy and I will most definitely defer. Unless of course, I feel the need to go all F-Dragon and shit.

btw...
word verification?
PRION
which is just sooooo geekily appropriate that I just can't help but feel the glee.
the question though is....who's the host??? tee hee

on second thought....

we can't leave
all the Spawns will die

Based on the brief email we got from Yost last night, I don't think he is coming back online for good. He specifically said "I'm not coming back"

I think he wanted to break the silence and express his concern over the M/OSU game situation.

I, like many others, will be looking for more posts from the old MZone as this season develops. If that happens, we will have a decision to make.

Until then, we will continue to drive this old beater.

I like it here. Keep it...:)

threet made starter at arizona state

Andy said...

I am sure he will be a Heisman candidate by the time this is all over.

Nice to hear from Yost, even if it isn't permanent.

I heard about Threet and he will be the third QB to leave Michigan under RR and start for another team and no doubt do well. Very concerning. There is something going on deep in the caverns of Michigan football that isn't being made public, my prediction is RR won't be here another season, which actually is sad. Given the fact that another coaching search and rebuilding stage will be painful.

Catie

1) Mallett
2) Threet
3) ???

Did Justin Feagin become a starter somewhere in the prison system and I missed it?

Bigasshammm said...

I think Catie might have been referencing the kid from Duke that turned into a fiasco. He did end up starting for Syracuse or something and was terrible.

I love THE GAME more than the stupid Big Ten or any other sporting event, and through this crisis I have discovered that I in fact do need Ohio State in my life. I think about THE GAME everyday of my life. Michigan is not quite the same without OSU to play the role of classic arch enemy; like Spiderman needs a Goblin, Superman needs Lex Luthor, and Batman needs the Joker. Who cares about Flash Gordon; did he fight anybody? What about the Green Lantern, did he fight Mr. Clean, or the cavity creeps? I couldn't guess to save my life. Without a great villian, who cares about them. They will never be a true hero without saving the world from an equal evil.

What makes the first-mentioned comics great is their classic struggle. The fact that they are indeed Super-human, and the epitome of all that is good and right in man, while their villains represent the antithesis and all we struggle to suppress. 11-0 records are that struggle between two classic, super-human titans. An undefeated regular season is superhuman. Michigan-Ohio State is that battle.

Shorty the Beachcomber said...

If THE GAME is to die, and be moved to mid October what does that leave us? In the years they would meet as 6-0 teams they will have proved to be formidable cage fighters, but not the heroes that break box-office records on a regular basis.

The great stories close with a climax, which can usually be found at the end, or very close to, not midway through the story with the latter half of that story rolling down hill. Batman-Joker, Superman-Luther, Michigan-Ohio State, none would be what they are without their enduring struggle, nor without what it is they represent to the fans. No one cares about the petty thief Batman busts, bored after he tears up Gotham chasing the Joker finally snaring him for good, or at least until next November.

When it comes to THE GAME, I am primal and I will always speak out to defend it, profit or any other conference corporate agenda be damned. I know in my heart that the end of UM-OSU in late November is the end of the rivalry as we know it. The rivalry will forever continue to exist on the nostalgia of past contests, sapped just enough of energy, life, passion, and hope, the hope of seeing a great contest mean so much with so much on the line like it used to be. No more 1950, 1969, 1973, 1995, or 2006. The fact that our AD Dave Brandon lived and played in the Ten Year War and has publicly been open to change is all the more disheartening. Then again none of us should be surprised as someone who fought to the top of a company as large as Dominoes can be expected to act like a corporate whore, tossing all that matters on the fire for a shot at another five dollars. The same can be said for the President of OSU, a Utah grad who knows nothing of our great rivalry's effect on our hearts and minds. They seem to no longer be able to see the hype, energy, and grandeur that makes this game so great.

There is a reason Superbowl 42 was one of the greatest games of all time. Much of what made it a great game like many others, like Superbowl 43, was the impressive competition and the last minute dramatics. The difference between Superbowl 42 when compared specifically to a game like 43 was that there was no hype or build up for the Steelers' competition, the 9-7 regular season Cardinals. They had no history between each other, the Cardinals had no winning tradition, nor were they a dominant titan during the season whom everyone watched to see if they could fall; whereas the Pats-Giants was all hype after the REGULAR SEASON FINALE proved the G-men were indeed formidable competition. It was the Pats' shot at epic history. To be the titan impossible to fell. It was two massive markets with Boston playing Goliath, and New York as David.

Michigan-Ohio State is much the same. We are the Boston-New York of the Big Ten, we are the consistent shot at history. No one remembers a battle between two 6-0 teams (can anyone quote me memorable Red River Rivalry games that will be played on ESPN Classic for years to come?), only epic season finales where at least one team has it all on the line and the other meets that standard, or is provided the opportunity to play spoiler. 6-0 is two cage fighters struggling to be recognized so that they may climb one more middling rung up the ladder towards that final one, the one that says, "You are at the top." 12-0 is the top of the mountain. The greatest and hardest repetition of all.

If THE GAME as we know it is relegated to history, a part of us all, the fans who know and love this match more than any other sporting event will fade with it. THE GAME's life force is the fans and the energy and meaning we give to it. If THE GAME is moved to mid season mediocrity, the light that flickers so brightly for this competition will fade into the black with each passing year as what we once knew to be Michigan-Ohio State is extinguished forever.

What difference can we make? Email the shit out of Jim Delany, and the Presidents and AD's of UM and OSU.

Andy, I was counting Tate, as that appears to be where that is headed as well! Sorry, bad attitude here!!
