This whole negative connotation of a WAL*MART WOLVERINE is ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with having a strong portion of your fan base comprised of local people that did not attend the University. In fact it is a great thing. It is a testament to the strength of the brand and success of the program.
I find this video both mean spirited and judgmental. I also don't get the racist "Japanese or Jewish" reference. I am sure in East Lansing they have a special screening gate for all Sparty fans to verify they are anglo, christian, straight, attending classes, and/or have a degree from MSU.

See to me this just gives them props that we even posted it. "Mr Blogger tear down that post!"
I couldn't say this is definitely from a MSU fan. This guy does all kinds of these. Don't be surprised to see an MSU one up soon.
Also, just because someone says "jewish" or "japanese" doesn't mean they're being racist. This guy was clearly stating that being a UM fan is like being a seperate race or breed. He just used those two as examples. I found it much more offensive when he mocked the handicapped man on the scooter. That was done clearly for laughs at that man's expense.
I would like to thank the Save-a-lot Spartans who sent this video to me at work yesterday.
Billy J and the former all state quarterback from ELHS deserve all the props.
I guess that's what I get for texting them pictures on my blackberry what 113,090 looks like at the even bigger Big House from my season tickets in Section 16.
I just picked up 4 free tickets to MSU-FIU for some friends. Apparantly the "Spartans in the D" event at Ford Field didn't have much of a draw from the spartan fanbase. (and I beleive the capacity of Ford Field is ~10K less than Spartan Stadium)
i thought it was stupid for what it's worth
As I have said before, I went to Eastern Michigan but I wanted to go to Michigan. I had every intention of transferring after my freshman year but inertia set it and I was actually quite happy at Eastern, so I never did. But I have been a Michigan fan all my life....never liked Sparty and there is something about Michigan.
So they are criticizing the stadium because it holds more than just students...Well, there are alumni as well. So given that Sparty stadium holds 80,000 people, does that mean that Sparty has 80,000 students? I'm also sure that there are some pretty "rich" sparty fans as well. I can't imagine that every Tom Izzo for President bumper sticker is being driven by a grad or student. so whatever....
Hammm
I struggled with creating this post. It would be easy to ignore it. I thought it was more important to shine a light on this stupidity.
Eh I hate it so I'll just ignore it and wait for it to get moved down the list.
I gotta get some credit for Reaganing it though.
I make up words daily.
Yost also picked this up on the original MZone.
I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud. Geez, don't be so thin skinned. I'm sure there's a video out there using the same theme about tOSU fans, Notre Dame fans et al.
I enjoyed it for its creativity. The long-haired Michigan "man" followed by the co-ed lesbian comment was priceless.
The "Pure Michigan" reference at the end was a touch of genius as I sit through those commercials here in Arizona. We, in the DMZ are no strangers to satire.
It's a pretty short movie. I, for one, would like him to expand on that lesbian aspect by adding 1 to 2 hours of cinematic examples (preferably with seductive music).
Since we've established that only Sparty students and alumni go to their games, this is my favorite Sparty gem......
A few years ago, my dad and I decided to go watch the Sparty scrimmage against Eastern. I think he won the tickets from some radio station, so we were seated deep in the heart of Sparty country. I of course was wearing my Eastern sweatshirt. Little did I realize that it was effective camoflage.
One of the fine upstanding gentlemen behind me would cheer every time Sparty scored (which was often that day). Anyways, it kind of sounded like Al Bundy cheering.
At some point in the third quarter, Al Bundy blurts out, "Hey, their colors are green and white too..." Colors I believe are learned in kindergarten. So apparently, Sparty accepts Pre-schoolers....
My other favorite Sparty moment was in that game as well. They were ahead 35-0, there was less than a minute left in the half. Rather than kneel on the ball, they decided to do a couple more passing plays. Bastards.
because taking random videos at any college sporting venue wouldn't yield similar content.
give me a break.
also, that guy's voice sucks.
So anyways, I went through all 20 pages of the Walmart Wolverine site. A few things that I've learned:
1. Community College students must be a form of scum because they always seems to mention that so and so went to blah blah blah community college. Now granted, I didn't start at a community college but I know alot of people that did and they turned out fine. Some people don't want to pay the 4 year college prices for alot of the mickey mouse classes. And who is to say that some of those students don't end up at Michigan?
2. Even though their degrees say U of Michigan and they can attend games in the student section, people who go to Dearborn or Flint don't count.
3. They only mentioned an Eastern person once.
4. Apparently fat people never went to Michigan because alot of their pictures seem to be of fat people.
5. Why oh why did I start looking at the comments? You have to love people who disparage the intelligence of others by using your when they mean you're. Once or twice I'd say it's a brainfart but constantly.......
Anyways, it is trying to be like People of Walmart but without the snarky commentary that makes the People of Walmart site funny. So I rate it a 3 out of 10.
Anyways, went to Ann Arbor tonight....got some pictures.
