In my humble opinion, the most memorable season opener in Michigan football history happened on August 26, 1995. It was Lloyd Carr's first game as the head coach.Michigan had slept thru the first three quarters of the game. With 12:55 to go, the Wolverines trailed 17th-ranked Virginia 17-0. Then the comeback began. We scored on a pair of drives to cut the deficit to 17-12, then got the ball back again, on the 20 yard line with 2:35 left. Somehow we kept making first downs. Time was running out. With four seconds remaining, freshman WR Tyrone Butterfield (wearing the #1 jersey) dropped a pass that would have run the clock out and sealed the victory for Virginia. But no... there was time for one more play.... and Mercury Hayes made a game-winning, fourth down, as time expired 15-yard touchdown catch from Scott Dreisbach to seal an 18–17 win in Michigan's greatest (at the time) comeback.

this is great...UofM football. GO BLUE. A few more days.
Yup I haven't been this excited in years. I'm actually disappointed that we're having a large cookout Saturday at 6 and will interrupt the end of the game. I hope the game is well in hand by then so I don't have to run back n forth.
Hammm... It won't matter if the game is well in hand or not, you will still be running back and forth to keep an eye on things.
Andy and T9.... Congrats on having the Spawn reader count zoom past the half million mark. I know the actual count is more than that since the counter was not up and running from the beginning but it still looks cool to see that number. There are many of us who hope it continues even if Yost is really back. I understand this was originally to be a temporary filler until Yost came to his senses, but I hope you stick around for awhile.
Go Blue!
Yea I wish there was an easy way for me to run a TV outside. Maybe if we had basic cable still but with U-verse it's almost impossible.
Ugh
Just submitted the preseason FF power rankings. we'll see them on here whenever Andy can find time to fit them in. I wouldn't be surprised if it was till after Saturday's game. Hopefully the next two nights we'll be celebrating a Marshall victory.
Thanks Hammm. I will get the rankings up later tonight or tomorrow. I am in DC now, but I am leaving for Ann Arbor tomorrow morning.
I appreciate the kind words about the continuation of this site. It looks like Yost is sticking around from more that a single post. T9 and I will talk this weekend about what the future here looks like. Either way, we will have a place to interact.
numerous sites reporting rumors that UM and OSU will be in different divisions and play the last week of the season
Andy... You and T9 need to stop by my tailgate so I can personally give you my reasons Spawn should stay active.
Bob
You have my commitment to be there. I can't speak for T9, but I will drag her over the Pioneer to drink a beer with you.
Send me an email with your cell phone number.
Speaking of Ann Arbor, where do you guys usually meet for your tailgates?
Beware the whiskey shots at Bob's tailgate!
Andy,
Thanks for the HT!
If there is going to be a SpawnNation tailgate, email me your cell...BAH has mine and during homegames he likes to "text-stalk" me...
Whatever. I got no one else to text Michigan stuff to.
Ok seriously I've had enough. What the hell does HT mean? Yes I am computer illiterate. Back in the day I could hack DOS like nobody's business.
HT = hat tip
I was confused on it too. I think I had to ask someone also.
Andy, since this is a Michigan blog shouldn't HT= "hail to" instead of "hat tip?"
I'm just saying...
