It wasn't close. It took all of 75 seconds for the #3 ranked Michigan Hockey Team to show the Buckeye fans in Columbus that this was not a football or basketball game. David Wohlberg cashed in a rebounded Louie Caporusso shot to take a 1-0 lead.Caporusso added 2 more assists and the Wolverines rolled 4-1 in a game televised on the Big Ten Network.
Coach Red Berenson continued his dominance over the Bucks, improving his career record against them to 57-22-11. Tonight's series finale will be shown on the CBS College Sports Network. Michigan will be looking to sweep the 4 game season series with Ohio State.

Nice picture, I absolutely LOVE the color scheme on that player... what is that combo, maize and blue is it? Gorgeous the way it sticks out.
BTW, is it odd that my word verification was 'dilite' or was it just foreshadowing?
Let's see...
Not football. Not basketball. What was it?
Looking for healing wherever it can be found. Charge on, McDuff!
The rivalry is more than one or two sports.
We also will dominate in baseball.
Yeah...did you guys see the sportscenter highlights of this game?
how eerie
a story about Red Berneson and my word verification was "publicurination"
spooky almost
Andy,
apparently, the Dispatch thought it was newsworthy-

and i agree w/ StB- it's a sweet pic
So let's recap here:
1) The Michigan/Ohio State rivalry is limited to two sports
2) The rivalry did not start until eight years ago
3) If ESPN does not show highlights, than it is not important
4) Sru has a strange word verification engine. Mine just says "drivingwhilevisiblyimpaired"
we're not saying the rivalry is limited to two sports...we're just saying few people really care all that seriously about the the non major sports. I didn't come on here and lake a big deal about OSU beating Michigan in wrestling last Friday, did I?
You guys have the better hockey program, no doubt. As for the other sports...who really knows or pays close enough attention?
as for bringing up ESPN....if i could only choose 2 sports for OSU to beat Michigan in, it'd be the 2 whose game highlights are broadcast nationally. When we beat you in football or basketball, general sports fans all around the nation know about it. When we beat you in any of the other sports, only those who care enough about it to go to the game, watch it on an obscure channel (if it's even on anywhere), or look up the results know about it
I know this might come as a shock to you O_G, but this is a Michigan Blog. As such, you should not be surprised when we celebrate victories by Michigan teams over Ohio teams, regardless of what ESPN chooses to display to the masses. As one of the blog contributors I reserve the right to headline even the most obscure events, including chess, beer pong, and tic-tac-toe.
And yes, I am horribly biased. If the bucks had won last night, chances are I would have found something else to talk about today, like the M baseball team winning their first game of the season in walk off fashion down in Florida. Luckily for me, they did not.
For the record, while I am bised I am also "one of the few" that cares a lot more about hockey than I do about basketball.
I haven't liked basketball in forever. It's just a horribly boring sport to me. Football and Hockey are the top two. Recently with baseball's shenanigans I couldn't care less if I ever went to another MLB game. Why should I pay my hard earned money to watch a bunch of dopers, cheaters, and lyers who get paid 20 million dollars a year (seriously?) when I could sit at home with a good book and a cigar on my porch and call it a day? Baseball is out of F-ing control and especially during this recent economic crisis if they don't do something fast there will be no one in the seats.
Hamm:
I still love baseball, but I don't like what is going on with the majors. I much prefer college or minor league ball.
The things I have to do to get a little conversation flowing.

Okay, that was funny. However, you bolstered my diagnosis regarding the need for any kind of healing. Really, it's okay. I've self-medicated in the same manner after two NC games. Don't be ashamed, Andy. Embrace your mental health.
Don't worry, my mental health healing process is well documented.
Remember tomorrow is another day, and it is a Swimsuit Sunday to boot.

who said I was surprised?
For the record, I never questioned your right to post what ever you want. I was just talking about the relevance of various sports when it comes to OSU/UM bragging rights in general, regardless of the forum
No sweep this year. Michigan loses 3-2 in Columbus. Oh well.
well, good to see that the Puck Bucks avoided the sweep. I was just looking at their schedule/results for the year.....when did college hockey start having shootouts? and is it all of college hockey, or just the CCHA?
The shootouts started this year in the CCHA. I do not know if the other conferences use this or not. Michigan is the only team in the CCHA to not be involved in a shootout this year. In fact, they have not tied a game.
