30 days. How can you tell we are getting close to the start of the college football season ? There are about a thousand stories flowing from every direction each and every day. Each major conference has held a media event and we are sliding into to last few weeks before the REAL fun begins.
Rather than post or comment on each and every nugget that I find interesting, I am going to from time to time just post a list and let the magic happen.
So, in no particular order... here we go....
- Charlie Weis eats Wrigley Field
- Somehow Jimmy Clausen makes the 2008 O’Brien Watch List
- ESPN expresses some concern about Penn State's Football program
- Miami's monster 2008 recruiting class has academic issues
- Somehow Kirk Ferentz keeps his job in Iowa
- Ron Zook is removed from the Mendenhall family christmas card list
- Almost everyone hates Ohio State -- except these guys
- Tressel's magic number hits thirty
- Helmet clash : at least they will lose once this year
- Meet the 2008 USC song girls
- Ball State's coach thinks Toldeo will do great in Ann Arbor
- Jake Long blocks too hard in practice
- West Virginia player appears to be in BIG trouble -- somehow this is going to be RR's fault
- The Mike Barwis media honeymoon continues
- Sparty is sick of Barwis and would like you to know they have a strength program too
- Playing football for Mack Brown is not all sunshine and lollypops
- Myron Rolle is not your typical college football player

My samplings from the buffet...
1)Concerning PSU football. How is it that they continue to have problem after problem and yet A the university does not see fit to force Joepa into retirement since he doesn't seem to have a handle on the program anymore or B how is it that amidst all these problems still on every recruiting board it seems like every top recruit has PSU as one of their top choices? I just don't understand.
2)Everyone hates Ohio $tate sure but how is it that MI is number 6 and Miami is at number 9? That can only be from the amount of Ohio and ND lovers voting in the poll.
3) The "dirty thirty" classic.
4)Helmet clash - MI should be a lock.
5) Mmmm song girls.
6)I don't take much stock in the Toledo having a chance article since the Carr era of dumbing down your team to the level of your opponent is over. Maybe if Carr was still the coach and the team was undergoing changes like this then yes terror would ensue. The last few years I dreaded the games against the lowly MAC teams or other conference cream puffs where MI would scratch out 10 point wins and look not impressive at all. With the new RR legacy of finding open grass and score score score I see times coming that could rival the Bobby Bowden era at FSU. Beat your opponent by 70. I'm not concerned. Utah yes, Toledo no.
7)Little brother says they have a strong weight coach too. Sounds like whimpering and whining to me. Although I find it interesting that their S&C coach played at Akron and I most likely watched him play since I've been going to Akron U games since I could walk.
Great story on Jake! I am looking forward to watching some Miami games this season!
Thanks for all the links to the stories, it helped get me through until game day! 29 days!!!(I love the clock!)
