For my second edition of Wallpaper Wednesday I give you: Hello Heisman. Celebrating Michigan's three Heisman Trophy winners: Tom Harmon, Desmond Howard, and Charles Woodson.
In 1940 Tom Harmon became the first Wolverine to win the trophy. He led the nation in scoring and in his final college football game he absolutely dominated: going 11 for 12 for 151 yards and 2 TDs passing the ball, rushing for 139 yards and 2 more TDs. He also kicked four extra points and intercepted three passes as the Wolverines trounced Ohio State in Columbus 40-0. Legend has it that many of the 73,000 'shoe fans gave him a standing ovation at the end of the game. Oh, how times have changed !!
In 1991 Desmond Howard dazzled the college football nation. He scored at total of 23 TDs, including a memorable punt return against the Buckeyes ending with a iconic pose in the endzone.
Finally, in 1997 Charles Woodson became the first primary defensive player to win the Heisman. He was simply the best player in the country and led the 1997 team to an undefeated season and a National Championship.
