I know this is not Wallpaper Wednesday, but we had a special request for an Ohio State themed wallpaper in a large (1920x1200) format from one of our long time friends.Rather than produce another boring Heisman theme -- I thought I could go for something with a little more spice. I will call this one: Coach Tressel's Dirty Thirty
Special thanks to Peabody from the blog Michigan Against the World for posting the detailed history to mark this Buckeye milestone. Well done sir.
Note: if anyone can find me a picture of Kurt Wilhelm, I would be very appreciative. I can not find an image of him anywhere.

andy,
You gotta mean streak and a good sense of humor.
Helluva combination.
Gorgeous post.
Don't forget this gem from Pee-body. It shows how Tressel's influence has affected the trend of bad boys at tOSU.
Whoa! Who'd have thought. A fact. I hope this doesn't get in the way of popular mythology. Looks like the new sheriff has been effective.
By Year:
2001 - 2
2002 - 8
2003 - 5
2004 - 8
2005 - 3
2006 - 1
2007 - 1
2008 - 2
I guess you missed this part...
The John Cooper era lasted 13 years. In that time, 20 players were arrested. Tressel has been there 7.5 years and 30 players have been arrested.
That is one awesome sheriff.
Yeah, not to mention when tBucks are a winnin' tCops are turnin' a blind eye.
But hey. They were just Cooper recruits. That's all.
Just going with the facts provided. It appears that the majority of the arrests came with Coop's boys and has trailed off since then. It is what it is. I'll stick with this sheriff. He's awesome.
Apparently, Tressel believes he can rehabilitate just about anyone. I like that. Screws with your stats, but Big 10 championships soften the blow.
I suppose Columbus will be the first major city to hire only blind
cops--all that winnin' stuff goin' on.
Must be getting close to kickoff. Everyone's getting testy. Check your guns at the door, boys.
srsly? this is like...sparty level.
oh no dex, no sparty could have such mad wallpaperin' skills
or do you mean the rationalizations about whether it's worse to be arrested for shoplifting, or DUI, or assault, or larceny depending on who recruited you out of high school and still let you stay on the football team?????
cuz, even sparty doesn't have that kinda game....
touche andy
can you make a rich rod at wvu wallpaper. forget it, they don't make a monitor big enough or a font small enough to fit everyone.
btw - one guy getting charged with 3 counts of battery is not 3 players getting arrested
sru---
are you a lawyer????
only a lawyer would do that math out loud...
;-)
ohhh it's gettin' fun now!
No, I mean the Sparty-esque reveling in the off-the-field failings of a rival since our team doesn't beat them on the field defensive mechanism attitude.
Andy -
This is great! This is exactly what I had in mind, as I've compiling the list.
BlueSteel
srudoff - Irizarry was arrested 3 seperate times, not charged with 3 different counts on the same arrest.
Think we could get a Penn St. one like that? That would be sweet.
dex/sybil/whoever you are today,
i'd have to disagree w/ the characterization of this as "sparty like".
the reason the tosu arrest record continues as an on going joke is in large part because of tosu fans' reactions. look at the comments- 30 arrests and tosu fans show up trying to justify it/spin it/rationalize it. even whets flails about w/ the "gee, i really think Tre$$el has a good heart, really" sort of spin. and that's what is really the entertaining part.
hell, even the Dispatch tries: http://dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2008/07/30/hunter0730.ART_ART_07-30-08_C1_CDASODP.html?sid=101
i would guess if tosu fans stopped trying to deny it, we'd stop finding it funny.
i think what sic is trying to say is similar to why we always bring up michigan's 1/2 championship or why we bring up the series record between the two schools since the days that the forward pass was invented or why we will always bring up good ol' professor hagan and the awesome michigan general studies program to michigan fans
the reaction is always pure gold
"even whets flails about w/ the "gee, i really think Tre$$el has a good heart, really" sort of spin. and that's what is really the entertaining part."
Flails? I really do think he has a good heart and wants to pull guys out of the sewer and see them make something of their lives.
Does he get some winning out of it? Of course. If there were no accompanying victories ($$), Tressel would be in the financial aid office or the Sociology Dept.
Here's the deal. He helps young people, figures out how to win doing it, kicks maize and blue ass consistently AND no one ever labels him as an elitist snob. Boys, that's entertainment!
I for one think he is "an elitist snob".
He has locked eveyone else in the B10 out of getting top Ohio HS recruits.
Greedy and elitist.
Andy's right. I withdraw my defense.
Man- that App State game really brought out you mean streak. '09 should make it six in a row!!
Wow Brutus -- it only took you a year to read and understand this post ?
Come on into 2009 and join the rest of us.
good thing that all of these arrests helped michigan beat Ohio State.............
