Jenga!!!

Hard to know which of the "blocks" was key to the precarious balance over at Schembechler hall..

1) Coaching?: Let's see, do Lloyd Carr and his staff get retroactive credit for piecing together wins from marginal players? Or do they get the goat for recruiting those players? Does RichRod get the blame for trying to re-arrange the Jenga blocks instead of just shoring up what was already here??? Or is he just the poor schlub who got stuck with a house of cards, and the next turn?

2) Players?: In the previous Michigan scheme each position has players 2 or 3 deep that can step up and play if someone goes down, or if someone vacates due to graduation. We graduated a boatload of talent last year and then had a number of defections. The obvious lynchpin? The loss at QB. Ryan Mallett must be kicking himself now. Seriously. You can't win without a QB, and gosh bless Threet and Sheridan but, well, they just don't have it. And they probably won't get it any time soon......

3) Bill Martin?: Coaching search Yakety Sax, compounded by being off the grid while sailing.
Some might say he's like this reporter and is directly to blame.....



On the other hand....with even fairly good athletes and temperance-as opposed to the 'tear down' mentality--any primate should be able to manage the house. right???
