Spring-juries

This from Mark Snyder's blog over at the freep.com====

Tailback Michael Shaw will miss spring practices after undergoing sports hernia surgery and linebacker Jonas Mouton will be absent because of shoulder surgery. Both will be hampered by missing spring practice.

Shaw, a sophomore, played in 10 games as a freshman, but spent last fall battling an assortment of injuries, limiting him to just 42 carries for 215 yards. His role with the team was expected to increase with the transfer of Sam McGuffie to Rice. But he must wait until fall to make an impression.

Mouton, who will be a senior this fall, played in all 12 games last year and was Michigan's second-leading tackler with 76, including 6 1/2 for loss. But he will be missing the chance at early practice with new defensive coordinator Greg Robinson.

U-M also announced the spring scrimmage, which will be played April 11 at Michigan Stadium, will begin at noon.

Bad news on Shaw. I was hoping he would get A LOT more touches this year. He can be pretty good.

If he is out and buried on the depth chart, I would not mind seeing him get a red-shirt that he missed out on last year.

He does look like another one of those speedy little guys that showed great potential. Horrible day horrible night begin the drinking!

Sad news of the injury.

But YAY!! for UM basketball. Heck of a win coming back in the 2nd half against Minnesota. Hopefully there won't be a meltdown in the BTT and a big dance bid should be in the works!
