In 1836, the State of Ohio and the Michigan Territory engaged in a brief and bloodless border dispute known as the Toledo War. I like to think this football rivalry is a modern manifestation of this historical tension between the two states. It has been ranked by ESPN as the greatest North American sports rivalry. In 1897 Michigan won the first game 34-0. They kept on winning, including 1902 Michigan won 86-0, spawning the song “Carmen Ohio” which was written on the train ride home to Columbus. The Wolverines would compile a 12-0-2 record before Ohio State would suspend the series following the 1912 season. The Buckeyes eventually came back to play and would finally get their first victory in 1919.
Recently, the Buckeyes have been a bit more successful. They have won 6 of the last 7 meetings and a victory on Saturday will represent their longest winning streak (5) in the series history. Believe it or not, I have come to appreciate THE GAME more during this losing streak. The passion and intensity this thing creates is incredible. In honor of the hatred and respect I have for the Buckeyes, I decided to put both helmets and logos on this week's wallpaper because THE RIVALRY does not exist without the other side.

You old softy, you.
"Recently, the Buckeyes have been a bit more successful."
you misspelled "since the Eisenhower Administration began"
soon it will be "since the end of the Coolidge Administration"
ohio_guy,
You're killing me here. I almost choked to death laughing out loud.
You had better check under your car before you start it. Someone here is going to light you up.
here's an interesting stat...as of right now the current UM freshmen have more losses in their collegiate careers than the current OSU seniors
don't worry about him whets. most people find ohio trolls "fun w/ math" segments so stupefyingly meaningless i doubt most would notice.
Michigan holds the advantage "since the Reagan Administration began". or since Bush sr. or Clinton. just not Bush jr.
why don't we count wins over SEC teams? almost as meaningless.
the Dispatch has a daily counter of "days since Michigan last beat tosu". that's more entertaining than any of the other crap.
simply put, tosu has a 4 game winning streak in a 105 game rivalry. it's only slightly more relevant in the long run as citing the cooper years.
or the late 50's/early 60's. we really sucked then.
LOVE the old school Michigan helmet
