The curious case of Plaxico Burress

Yesterday ESPN.com ran another story about Plaxico Burress. This one has nothing to do with self inflicted gun-shot wounds or NFL suspensions. This story from (the Associated Press) provides details on the NINE incidents that various people or organizations have needed to sue him to collect debts since 2002. The sad thing is if you add up the amounts that Plax actually owed to these people it likely wouldn't equal the simple bank interest he makes in a week on his NFL salary.

My favorite quote is from his Florida lawyer named Adam Swickle: "He happens to be a great kid. He really is a good kid," Swickle said any suggestion that Burress is chronically irresponsible because of his wealth and status "is 100 percent incorrect."

Really ?

Let me see if I can define a chronically irresponsible person: A fantastically talented and wealthy person that has a pattern of violations including reckless driving, noise and public intoxication, failure to appear in court, speeding, careless driving, and no insurance. That same person that has been sued no less than nine times to collect outstanding debts, even though he clearly has the income to pay these bills. A person that makes promises for services rendered and fails to complete them. Topped off with a weapons charge and a self inflicted gun shot wound that happened while drinking in a crowded nightclub.

Yeah, Adam he is just a misunderstood kid.
