Coming into the CCHA tournament, no one (including me) gave Michigan a chance. They were an inconsistent and undisciplined #7 seed. The streak of NCAA bids was going to end like everything else in this soul crushing era of pain ... And then incredible something happened.Momentum.
Momentum is the life blood of college hockey. A mediocre team with momentum is a dangerous beast, just ask Lake Superior State, Sparty, Miami of Ohio, and Northern Michigan. Congrats to Red and the boys.
Somewhere there is #1 seed wondering if they are next.

NEVER give up !!!
This is just begging for one or more commemorative wallpapers...
We went to the Friday game and they destroyed Miami and watched the game last night on tv during my nieces engagement party. SIC went to the game last night and I am sure he enjoyed it. Red made some line changes near the end of the season that have improved the offense and although injuries are never a good thing, Hogan being out and Hunwick being able to step in and play like he has is incredible. Both are juniors so next year may be a fight for the staring job. This reminds me of what MSU did in 2006 peaking at the end of the season and winning the whole thing. Maybe Michigan can do that this year, but even if they do not, they at least made the tournament again and kept the streak alive. Go Blue!

i did go to the game & it was great.
what was particularly fun was being there for the post game. after the handshakes, they announced the "all tournament" team. about half way thru the forwards, the crowd started chanting: "Shaa-awn Huuun- wiiiick". the whole team turned to the crowd & encouraged the chant, until his name was called for the goalie's spot on the roster.
as soon as he posed for the pic w/the trophy, the crowd started the "MVP" chant (which the team also endorsed)& as he started to skate back to the line, the Fox announcer goes "not so fast" & pulled him back for the MVP award. place went nuts.
then, she asked him something like "considering you never played until about 3 weeks ago & here you are the MVP on a team headed to the NCAAs, how does it feel?".
he looks at her (and i'm not saying he's short, but he was about her height w/ his skates on) and says: "it's surreal".
i couldn't resist snagging the "official" CCHA Champs hat w/ the "M" on the side. it was a ridiculous $25 but i realized it's been a while since i felt like buying anything, so i splurged.
as i said before, short goalies RAWK!
That's awesome SIC. That's a dream come true moment for that kid.
