The three time defending Big Ten Champion Michigan baseball team started their season a couple of weeks ago in Florida. Yawn. As a college baseball fan -- I know it is hard to get excited for any college baseball team north of the Mason-Dixon line. However, Michigan Coach Rich Maloney has done a great job in building a program that we can all be proud of. Someday I hope to make an emergency trip to Omaha to enjoy these guys in the College World Series.I took this picture of former Michigan LF Brad Roblin a couple of years ago (it was 2005). That weekend I talked T9 into attending a random Michigan/Indiana game while I was in town to shoot the Tigers -- it was a beautiful spring day and it might have been one of the best times I have ever had as a Michigan fan. Roblin actually reached up and took this home run away from a poor Hoosier player. It happened so fast that most people had no idea what just happened. I remember showing his Dad the image from my camera, and he was amazed. I have shot many major league minor league and major college baseball games - but no single image is more important to me than this "lucky" shot of a Michigan ballplayer climbing the wall to steal a home run.

That is one hell of a picture. Some good zoom you have there I imagine. ALso the idea of the wallpaper is just perfect incorporating his jersey into the message. Well done sir you truly have a talent.
Hammm beat me to it.... It took me a minute to figure out that you had incorporated his number into the heading. Nice job again. I think we are all starting to take this kind of thing for granted since you always put together appropriate wallpapers.
I have been to a few Michigan baseball games and it is a good time. My sister and I have been talking about going to some Michigan sporting events other than football and hockey (which most of you know I never miss). I am going to check out the baseball and softball schedules and see what we can work in.
Speaking of jersey number 9, I forgot to mention that at the last home hockey game versus Ferris State, they had Gordy Howe (wearing his Red Wing jersey) do a ceremonial face off prior to the game. Since they were playing Ferris, I commented to my son "Hey look, it's Cameron!"
Thanks guys! A few years ago I made a 11x14 print of this shot and hung it on my wall. I got the idea about using the number while I was daydreaming a few weeks ago. As you can tell - based on the time I posted this wallpaper it was again a late night in DC. I am a bit hung-over this morning.
You should seriously make money doing this if you don't already.
Hammm... Andy just does this for the love of the game and the never ending gratitude of the Spawn regulars. Yea, right!!
I am also a little disappointed in both of you for not commenting on my off the wall Ferris Bueller reference.
GBBob: I am off my game this morning. Too many Makers Marks last night.
Hamm: Yes, I make a little money shooting photos.
yeah bud--I gotta say. best use of your own picture yet.
that was SUCH a great weekend.
we walked right up to Tiger Stadium and you got me seats right behind the plate from the box office. that was the year BEFORE the pennant!
and, if I remember correctly, the softball team won the Big Tens that weekend too!
mmmmmm Michigan sports!!!
ps== I checked into a hotel today for work and the bellman saw my Michigan tag on my bag and started SINGING the praises of the Michigan Football program and how much he loves our school and how Rich Rod is going to turn it around. etc etc etc
Is he from Michigan???
Heck know, born and bred in Nebraska and aside from is deep affection for the Huskers he loves Michigan just as much.
so there!
GoBlueBob--
I absolutely appreciated the Ferris reference!
Still waiting for that Michigan lacrosse team, but until then this is what we have. Hope the baseball team does well, even though I don't follow college baseball, I'll try to follow Michigan specifically.
I love to shoot lacrosse. My son played for a year and my daughter plays on her high school varsity team. If I can get some good images, I will make a fun Michigan Lacrosse wallpaper.

I'll interject for our Nebraska brethren AS THEY DON'T POST HERE for obvious reasons.
"That boy ain't right."
I must sadly admit that the Ferris Bueller statement completely went over my head. To my credit I have been drugged heavily all week so my wits aren't all there.
Speaking of weird MI shoutouts last year we were at Madison Square Garden for a Madonna concert and I went to get my wife another 20 dollar Absolut and cranberry and while buying myself a coke I got into a lengthy conversation with the vendor about MI. He thought also that RichRod was going to totally change the face of the Big Ten and that he's been a fan of both MI and WVUs during the RR era for years. It was interesting. Plus I got a free beer.
Hammm... If you paid $20 for an Absolut and cranberry you did not really get a free beer. Also, the Ferris Bueller reference was very off the wall so I guess I do not blame you for missing it.
Bob,
Economics aside, it's the thought that counts. Give Hamm his free beer.
Ya Whets I guess Hammm did get a beer that he did not have to pay for (therefore "free") but MSG still made out on the margins for the total sale. That's all I'm trying to say.
I'm tracking with you Bob. However, Hamm got to talk Michigan football (cough, cough) at Madison Square Garden (Personally, I wouldn't have mentioned the Madonna angle). That's pretty unique.
What Mandle scent do we need to give Hamm regarding this Madonna fiasco?
Andy,
I remember there was an issue of Inside Lacrosse a few years ago titled "the next generation." It featured three D-I teams without lacrosse programs that are known to either have solid club programs or are trying to work their way into D-I lacrosse. Michigan, Florida State, and BYU were those three programs. I know signs are pointing in the right direction for Michigan lax and if they can start recruiting well and get a good coach and play in the Big House they will draw large crowds. Syracuse, for example, drew 16K against Virginia a few weeks ago.
