Hair of the Dog

Nothing like a little Detroit Lions football to serve as the hair of the dog for my 2008 Michigan Football hangover. I plan on sitting in my chair and watching every excruciating minute (at least until my wife demands that I do something productive like go to the grocery store).

We have reached the scary point of the NFL season, two Lions games in a five day span.

In a bit of ironic news, I went to the San Antonio Alamodome last night to watch my son's high school football team play in the Texas High School playoffs. Yes, that is the same high school that uses the tOSUs fight song. They won 42-7. No, the team they beat did not wear maize and blue.

Those of us in the greater Detroit area have been spared from having to watch the Lions for the last few home games since they cannot sell out. We are watching Tennessee vs. the NY Jets and just relaxing.

Lions lead 17-0 as the 1st quarter ends. Calvin Johnson is a stud. I don't expect the lead will last.

Bucs take the lead 21-17.

Vandy normal averages about 78 points/game. Coach Borseth had a great game plan: break their press, spread the deck, play man and defend against their two outside shooters.
Coach Beilein was in the house to support the women's team as well.

kickin' back now watching The NY Football Giants and the Cardinals.
w/r/t the Lions???
wv = aughter, I kid you not

It has been almost a relief that the Lions have been blacked out the last few weeks.

Congrats Andy to your son and his team, that is awesome! Is Michigan recruiting him? :o)

what's the lions worst season on record? any chance both the Lions and Wolverines have their worst ever season in the same year?

one of the "benefits" of living in the 616 is you get the Lions game on TV even if it is blacked out in the Detroit area...this provides a GREAT opportunity to do yardwork, which is what I was doing for 3 hours, beginning at 1pm...mulching leaves, the last mow of the year, talking to neighbors doing the same thing to avoid watching the Lions, not to mention the weekly chemical check on my hot tub.

Lions Football, it is "fantastic!"

What about making the Lions the 12th Big Ten team?

Yesterday my dad and I were going to go to the Lions game. Apparently Ford Field has as rule against cameras with lenses greater than 50mm. My dad had already got into the game and I couldn't because I had my new Canon. Also apparently, if you leave you can't get in, so we ended up leaving.

Needless to say, it will be a cold day in hell before I go to a Lions game. I hope that whatever justification for no cameras like that is worth it to them. I mean, I might have taken a picture of a Lion and sold it....I hope the $5 they realize because of that is worth the 70 X however many future games I might have gone to.

The rule is not on the back of the ticket but it is posted in a dark corner of their website. Not that I would have thought to look since I've never had a problem at Comerica or any baseball stadium I've gone to. Not to mention, Comerica doesn't treat me like a criminal before going in.

Golly Mr. Ford, you can't sell out the games, so you harass those fans that actually go to the games. Enjoy an 0-16 season as the Lions now join the honored spot of Dallas on my mantle that is, I like any team that is playing Dallas.

So you're welcome Mr. Ford for supporting the Lions through all the crap seasons that I've had to endure.

I had the same thing happen to me a Red Wings game a couple of years ago.

Pretty common with NFL stadiums. If you have one of those canon putty/grey lenses, they will stop you. It is mostly the local pro photogs that get upset because they somehow feel threatened by fans in the stands with similar equipment.

When I don't have a press pass, I have gotten into the habit of taking an old black dress sock and covering the lens. It does not draw as much attention.
