Healing the Hurt

Andy has left me in charge of healing today. Which is a shame since I am still defrosting, dethawing, and drying out from a pathetic performance in crap weather.
129 years of excellence squandered, with one game still left to go.

When I think healing, I think massage.

Or chocolate.

But some of you may think that sidelines hotties are helpful

Given the ridiculousness of the team's performance today, I really am at a loss for what will make us all feel better. Maybe it's just better to purge it from our memories?????

T9,

you keep trying to make me fall in love with you with those pics! not to mention suggesting The Arena Sports Bar for an indoor pregame meeting place...that "dive bar" (as you called it) was SWEET! all of the guys I pregamed with at that place (6 of us) thought it was great! not crowded (even with the weather sucking eggs sideways, which suprised me) food was good (burgers, sandwiches, nachos, chicken fingers, etc.) and it was clean. When you said "dive bar" I was expecting a dump. it was only a 10-15 minute walk to The Big (quiet and "not so much 107,000 in attendance") House.

methinks it is a good spot for a future Spawn Mzoner pre/postgame meeting place.

texted BAH a few times during the game (my crackberry got too wet to text late in the game) and dude left at the end of the 3rd quarter (his dad was too cold and damp, not to mention his dad has a bad back so I am not going to give him grief), but BAH said he enjoyed the tailgate with gobluebob.

gotta like the networking!

Yost should be proud!

with tOSU this week, can we hope for a guest post by Yost? we need his sharp wit and humor the way this season has gone.

on a positive note, all the other season ticket holders in Section 16 around me said "see you next year" so there is hope for a REAL "ninja offense/defense" in '09.

wv= messeyst...does this mean "messiest Michigan football season in my lifetime?" ummm, well at least since I can remember, cuz I was in diapers last time it was this bad...

still proud to be a member of the Victors Club, just sipping the maize and blue kool-aid...

616--
glad you guys liked The Arena. Maybe 'dive' was too harsh. Perhaps 'lived in' would have been a better moniker.

I must admit that I bailed at the half. It was miserable---on ALL accounts.

However, when we have a QB with more skills, WATCH OUT!!!

One person's "dive" is another person's "heaven".

It looked like I was going to be able to post something special after a rare LIONS win -- but this football season continues to eat my soul and make me question why I even watch.

T9,

well if you count the hungover waiter who just slapped some jel in his hair who was our server...yeah it was a dive bar...but that is to be expected in a college town...

I stayed til the end, well I was leaving when NW was taking its "victory formation" snaps...

What can I say? Yes the weather was "biblical?" "horrific?" downright "disgusting" but it was fun none the less. Comments I have about the game are as follows.
1) What the hell is that punt formation by Northwestern? Also why the hell didn't MI go after each and every punt? They easily could have blocked probably 3 of the first 4 punts.
2) This offense and this team is nothing without a seasoned competent QB. Sure NW's QBs aren't heisman material but at least they could make plays and throws in that weather where ours could not. It will be different next year. Not great but different and different is better.
3) All in all the defense was not horrible and basically was just left out there too long. The awful tackling woes came into effect early on NW's first touchdown and then the passing game ripped then open in the 3rd. Nothing we haven't seen before.
4) I watched the game today from my DVR and that interception in the 4th was a TD. That ref totally blew that call and then for them to say that's "non-reviewable" is an outrage. What is the purpose of replay review if it can't review each and every single play? They need to get rid of the "non-reviewable" moniker and make everything reviewable. I would even like them to be able to review certain penalties. I.e. facemasks, pass interference, etc. If they're going to do something go all the way.
5) Horribly disappointed in the lack of student participation. The rest of the House filled up for the most part except the student section. What do you have something better to do than go support your school and then walk 10 minutes back to your dorm, house, whatever to warm up? Most people that attend probably had drives of at least a half hour or more and they showed. I explained to my dad that the usual experience is much better than it was Sat.
6) What was with the Sheridan show exclusively the first half? What happened to throwing Feagin out there for a few plays to keep the defense thinking or hell even throw Threet out there in the same aspect and let him either run or throw the deep ball? They seemed to have a great game plan for Minnesota and a total lack of game plan for Northwestern. Sad.
I've rambled enough and forget what else I wanted to bitch about.

The tailgate with Bob (GoBlueBob) was awesome and I can't thank him enough. We have over 40 pictures that I hope to get on the Group site either late tonight or possibly not till Tuesday. We are getting switched over from Time Warner to ATT U-verse tomorrow so I will be out of internet for several hours and then will have a new email address once all is done. I will send a shoutout to everyone I can think of regarding it.

My family and I enjoyed meeting BAH and his dad at our tailgate on Saturday and even though the weather and team sucked we had fun anyway. Good job, Andy, on the heading for the clock this week. You always seem to come up with a very appropriate one. The funny thing is, even if we do not crush them, they will still give off an obnoxious odor. Go Blue!
